I am gonna do the EC thing slowly as DS is still in sposies. I'm gonna transition him to cloth first but the prefold + waistband combo seems a little iffy to me. Does it unfold when you pull the waistband down? Does the waistband stay attached if it's not a perfect fit? Does the one from EC shop ride up? It looks like a scrunchie, which probably would ride up since DS has a round belly.
Anyway, are there some fitted snap CDs that could be easily pulled down?

So I'm crossing over to training pants then? I'm not sure I can deal wsiththat right now. I don't have a stash of CDs and was thinking of starting there but maybe that would actually make things harder. Does anyone use fitted CDs as trainers here? If so, what kind?

I use fitted CDs. I said so. I sometimes use them with a cover, but lots of times we go coverless.

You asked about snappable, pull-up-able clothing options. Most people who use the PF/waistband thing seem to have gotten there because they started EC with a stash of PFs and wanted an EC-friendly way to use what they had.

I don't use any particular brand myself, but I'm sure others have opinions about brand names that work well for EC. Trim fit and less absorbency (you only want it to hold one pee, not 2 hours worth of pee) seem to be key features.

I use my Firefly fitteds coverless around the house--it's easy to tell if he's peed, they're trim, and they're a bit easier to snap on a squirmy baby than other fitteds. But I'm switching over to KISSes from the EC Store and Poquito Pants because I want something pull-up-able and more built for EC'ing. (I had the Fireflies from earlier).

The prefolds + belt options is not really a good one if you are missing lots of poos FYI! I use them a lot but not infrequently suffer that fate.

I like to use FuzziBunz (pocket + liner) when we travel because they are easy to pull up and down without unsnapping.

We use Mother-ease one size fitteds. They are pretty thin at least the hand-me-down ones I have and fit baby from 8-33 lbs I used them exculsivly till we switched to regular undies. Depending on how old or cunckie you babe is you could get some cotton gerber training pants/undies and wash them on hot. We used those after about 11 months but my son was a big guy

A couple things that worked for us:
Tiny undies, maybe walmart brand? washed on hot with a prefold or doubler inserted. Swimming pants with a doubler or prefold stuffed inside, diaper cover pants like come with little dresses with a doubler or prefold stuffed inside. Fuzzibunz with or without an insert.

Happy pottying
