Didn't see a thread for this so thought i would start one! I am trying Eat to live again this month anyone else following the plan??

6 days in and have went from 167 to 160!
At 5 7 3/4" I am thinking the ideal for me is 127, if i remember, i am large boned/framed, i am aiming for 135 lbs...I got the book at the library last year so i am going on memory.

I am having a hard time with 1) getting enough salad in, and 2) avoiding salt, it is in/on everything it seems!!

It is hard, w/dh and ds still eating normal, I do occassionally have slip ups, but i am way more concious about eating, like maybe a will have 1 piece of chocolate-but not 6 pieces, I am also allowing myself to eat as much nuts as i want. I don't remember dr. furhman's exact eating guidelines on amounts, but i remember the jest of it, and it is obviously working. I did this last year for a couple months, but fell off during our big move, it has just taken me a year to get back into the groove.

I haven't been doing so well. We lost our food assistance and have been relying on the food pantry, so I've had nothing fresh in a while. Somehow I managed to eff up my last two batches of soup as well. I'm avoiding meat, but have been slipping on dairy. THe month I stuck to it I lost a bunch of weight and my skin was so pretty. Now acne is back and jeans don't fit. Any suggestions on eating to live on a tiny budget?

I am an extreme couponer, and one thing i have learned, it is hard to get free produce, but sometimes you can get it pretty cheap. Sometimes stores will sell bagged salads with short sell by dates at deep discount. if you have a coupon for that type of salad you could essentially get it for .25 to .50 a bag. I get most of my coupons from the sunday paper, some people get them from friends, coworkers, etc if they can't afford to buy papers. Also if there is a really good coupon that you want you can probably find it online, ebay or couponclippers and get multiples and stock up. I did this for wholly gucamole, I paid 1$ to get 20 coupons and ended up paying .50 a box a few months back-it can be frozen, and dethawed at a later date. I have about 15-20 bags of frozen veggies that i paid 0 to .25 each for after coupons so I am pretty stocked up in the freezer. As far as beans go, google cooking beans in a crockpot-this is a new trick i learned, i will cook 1lb of beans in a crock pot and it last a few days and there is no salt, plus way cheaper than canned. Above all-watch the sales for your grocery stores, get ahold of some coupons if you can, find out if your stores double or triple coupons, and lastly-i saw there is a new sticky here on mdc about basics of couponing in the frugal forum, that should help!

Hey all! I started a thread here.

I am new to this and so far I want to say it is going good but not E2L good. I am excited because I am eating less and eating better but I just can't bring myself to eating a salad without a little bit of EVOO mixed in with my vinegar.

I have found the perfect breakfast though! An orange and a banana. I don't know why but that just does it for me. Yum!

Hi everyone....

Not sure where to post. I want to do this, but to be honest this is a HARD time to diet.
: Of course you all know that.

So, I want to lurk, and learn from you all. I need to get the book.

magstphil I hope you are feeling better. I really believe this is the best way to eat.

Does anyone know what Dr. Furman says about soy, like soy milk etc??
