I thought this article was awesome, and sent it out to friends. Finally some good press for EC!

Other than calling it "early potty training", it was pretty good. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">

<div style="font-style:italic;">That is wonderful! It's totally positive and presents EC as a normal, valid choice.</div>

thats what i thought. its so nice to finally see something like that in the mainstream press. usually even if they start out good, they end up making us sound like a bunch of nuts...

Do you think the negativity is an American thing? I'm living in Germany and nobody thinks it is wierd here. A lot of people I know here pee their babies, they just don't put much effort into it and are not systematic and consistent about it. Some people here are surprised to find out there is a formal method, though. They just figure they get lucky if they catch a pee or poop at a diaper change.<br><br>
Also, when I told my husband about EC, he said, "That's cool. Saves some diapers, doesn't it?" I told him that in America it's considered radical and he just laughed and shook his head, "Who cares? It's just baby pee. Don't people have more important things to worry about?" I think that's a good question...

yeah thats a really good question.<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"><br><br>
i dont know if its just an american thing. i live in london. we've gotten some weird looks. also they did a thing on tv i think last year where they followed an EC family around. i didnt see it but my friend saw it and said they kinda set out to make her seem like a freak. like "look at this crazy woman who lets her kid poop on the floor"<br><br>
but england is probably more similar to america than the rest of europe i guess.

Death threats????? That was a great article. I'm glad they got the word out. I didn't ec because I hadn't heard of it until it was really too late. My mother kept telling me that in China babies are potty trained by one year, but she couldn't tell me how to do it. I'd love to see some classes offered by adult education or at hospitals.
