I took Davis on vacation for 9 days. Cloth was going to be a HUGE hassle and we reluctantly decided on sposies, and although I brought his potty we didn't do as well as I would have hoped. I was able to pee him at his obvious times, like after waking and nursing, but it was SO HARD using disposables to tell if/when he went and the hardest thing was paying attention to him!! All of DH's family and my family were there so he was being passed around or I was busy catching up and I couldn't see a cue if my life depended on it, and forget about timing!! We were driving and flying all over so it just got messed up. The first few days home were like starting all over.....but they seem to be better now.
On the bright side, everyone I talked to about EC was truly amazed, and I even got 2 of my friends wanting to try it. Of course, it sucked to not have good "proof" of our awesome EC relationship during the trip, but at least they believed me and got to watch him go a couple of times.

I realized when I saw your post that I would be having this problem soon. Dh really wants to go to Mexico (I want to go too, but I think we could put our money to better use) & I will have to use disposables (Tushies cotton, no gel). There's no way I could wash 2 dozen dipes a day even if there were laundry facilities. I have been wondering how that would work out. If we went for a week or two I would have to bring tons of diapers!
Maybe if we wait a while he won't be going through so many.
Anyone else have any experience with this?

That is a main reason I didn't do cloth--packing it. I didn't know at the time but there were washers/dryers everywhere I went but I assumed I'd have to go out of my way all of the time .
:
Anyway I used the SeventhGeneration kind because they are bleach/chemical free and I could buy them down there at the health food stores (there weren't too many). I have heard the diapering forum, I think it was USAmamma, who went to India for a month and took Gerber flats. I think it's a great idea! I used to use them and still do as backups, and they dry in about 20 minutes on the line. I could even stack them and they'd be dry in less than an hour. You can hand wash them pretty easily and they pack light. I think they would be great for EC travel (wish I'd thought of all of this ahead of time--I'm spoiled by fitteds...)
Anyway, good luck with your trip and I'm happy to report that Davis and I are back to our old EC rhythm. It took a few days but we're there!!
