I am just wondering if anybody else has elastic that doesn't last half as long as the rest of the diaper? If not, what can I be doing wrong?

I have about 10 Luke's Drawers with shot elastic and none are over a year old (some lots younger). The rest of the diaper still is in great shape. I have "replaced" the elastic in a few, but just wondering why this seems to be happening. I also have this problem with about 3 CuddleBuns, again only the elastic is shot.

I always hang dry (just 10 min in dryer to fluff) and my washing routine is pretty standard.

Oh yeah, I have quite a lot of diapers and some of these diaper are used only about 3-4 time a month, so am I just expecting too much or what? And I have to wonder if some elastic is better since some of my oldest diapers are Liz's Cloth and the elastic is still going strong. Any advice appreciated...this is driving me nuts

Hi Traci,
You may want to contact the Wahms that made your diapers. They could have experienced a "bad" batch of elastic. If your diapers are used in a large rotation and you are only hanging to dry I am not sure what would cause early elastic failure. Contact the Wahms...they might be able to shed some light on the problem.

Well since you said its happening on more than one WAHMs diapers.. id think its probably not a bad batch of elastic... but what brand/type of elastic they are using. They are probably all braided.... but there are varying degrees of that.. some higher quality than others.

I have 3 Lukes Drawers that I've use and abused hard this past 15 months (wash and dry in dryer every other day for 15 months) that other than a few worn holes and a snag
they are still holding up strong including the elastic.

I think (and this is just my theory) that between hang drying and the not being used often (which means not being washed often) that elastic tends to get "dry rot". I think some elastics are more suseptical to dry rot than others. I also think that elastic tends to hold up better under dryer drying than hang drying. This is just what I think from experiances I've had with elastic.

Sorry to hear about your poor dipes.
