I get bloodwork results from a phone answering system. My CD3 bloodwork today was supposed to be for starting ivf. Well, the message said I have elevated prolactin and need to come in on Monday to have them re-taken. Does anyone know if this is due to the pregnancy/miscarrage? Does prolocatin increase while pregnant, I know it does while lactating. Also, how does this affect ivf? It's not like I'm ovulating anyway. Any advice would be appreciated? We are trying to decide if this means that the ivf is going to be postponed, in which case I don't want to start bcp, in case we can have a miracle natural conception.

TIA!

I know my dr said if prolactin levels are high that can cause you NOT to Ovulate, kind of like in Pregnant women. I think there is something you can take to bring it down to a normal level, then you may even O on your own. Good Luck!!!

Well, the nurse returned my call. Apparently my level was like 78 and they want it below 27 to cycle. Too much prolactin will thin the lining too much to acheive pregnancy. So... if I continue, then they'll prescribe me medication to bring it down while cycling. However, I'm going to take this as a sign from above and we're going to skip a cycle. Since I miraculously got a period on my own, we're going to pray that I may also miraculously ovulate and conceive on my own. If not, we'll start ivf up in January. btw, my prolactin was 11 in January, so either the pregnancy/miscarriage did it or else it was a false reading.
