Ummm, so I'm 37 weeks and I've noticed the last couple of times I've had an orgasm that my body seems to be pushing. It is a very distinct downward force, not a contraction (though it brings those on, too). It stops very quickly, within a minute, but it's freaking me out a little. Anybody heard of this? Should I be concerned?

I get it, too. Like a weird, rhythmic, downward, pumping, about 10 in a row right afterwards. I've been wondering if that's what contractions are like, but it seems like to big and violent a movement, but it doesn't hurt and doesn't seem to cause anything else to happen.

Anybody else?

My uterus gets super tight for a while afterwards, but I wouldn't say it feels like pushing, just a really big tight belly that's slightly uncomfortable. I think that's pretty normal. After all, an orgasm causes your uterus to contract and your uterus is as big as it'll ever be!

Just fun to read this.. yes your uterus contracts during orgasm, even when not pregnant. God bless you ladies who are still rockin' the bed at 37 weeks!! Anyway, when you get to the point where the baby is big and tight in there, your uterus contracts the way it always has during orgasm, but it feels different b/c of the baby being inside. This is different than labor contractions, generally not harmful unless you are at risk for preterm labor. If anything it gives a little extra tone for the work yet to come... no pun intended

In all seriousness, a loving sex relationship is soooo important to maintain however you can in pregnancy and during postpartum. Sounds like all is well in that dept, enjoy!
