I attended a birth last week and have another coming up very soon.
At this last labor I felt like I repeated the same words/phrases over and over to the mom. I am really trying to think of what else I could say...........
Can we start a list of encouraging/reassuraning phrases that you all use for moms?

This is a little unrelated but with my youngest son I tend to say "good Job" alot. I try now to say "I like..." I like how you colored or I like how you used your voice. Saying You are doing a great job is encouraging but I try and change things around a little.

Maybe "I like the work you are doing, you are progressing great"
"What a mama you are to work so hard, keep it up"

I also like to have the Dad whisper in her ear... tell her how amazing he thinks she is, how much he loves her etc...

and never under estimate the power of silence!
