They have been trying to concieve for almost 5 years. She has had two previous pregnancies...5 yrs ago and 9 years ago.

She recently was diagnosed and had surgery to remove scar tissue and untwist her tubes. They are giving her a couple of months to concieve and then she needs to decide what to do. Her options:

1) Full hysterectomy.

2) Some sort of meds that will put her into menapause early.

3) Strong birth control bils to trick her body into thinking it is already pregnant.

She is 28.

Please are there any other options? She is not comfortable with the chemicals and hysterectomy options. Is there any thing else?

Any other advice? I feel so bad for her...
She wants another baby so badly.... (Her first was placed in an open adoption....a girl. Her second, a boy, lives with her and her husband. )

The people I know that have successfully had children with endo took birthcontrol pills and Lupron. That was it. Once one of them got pregnant, she got pregnant back to back to back as to get her family out of the way then had a hysterectomy.

A friend of mine has had alot of success with naturopathic and herbal remedies, mainly things like red rasberry leaf tea along with other herbs that are also good uterine toners like thistle. there are alot more, I just can't remember right now. I should add that she would drink close to a gallon a day, but what is that compared to the drugs offered? It could at least be worth the try! Not to mention the fact that the same (most of them) herbs are also good during pregnancy! There's an awesome tea called "female toner" I think it's made by yogi tea that has alot of really good herbs in it, it would be pretty expensive to drink this by the gallon, but if she has a whole foods or something like it close that sells bulk herbs, she could make her own mixture, not to mention ppl that work w/ herbs there are usually pretty knowledgable too and could maybe help w/ the mixture ratios. Any way, I hope this helps!!

she needs to find a specialist. Those three options all point to the fact that her doc doesn't know squat about endo.

Hysterectomy will not do anything for the endo implants growing outside her uterus. They will continue to grow and cause her pain as long as they are left inside her. A good surgeon can and will remove all the endo he can find, no matter where it is located.

The drugs that put you into menopause (usually Lupron, but there are others) only offer a temporary possible releif from the symptoms, but do not treat the condition itself. If they successfully shrank the endometrial tissue growing outside the uterus, they would also affect the uterine lining the same way, as it's the same exact tissue just growing in different places. Plus, they come with some really nasty, often long-term, side effects. Docs who prescribe Lupron et al, are those who are not skilled enough to remove the endo implants and use the drugs in hopes it will shrink what was left behind after the surgery.

Same goes for birth control. If her doc wants to give her anything containing estrogen, she needs to run away and never look back! Estrogen is what makes endo worse. Women with endo almost always have very elevated estrogen levels. She needs to find a specialist, and fast!

there are natural treatments that help with the pain and sometimes even infertility, but they won't stop the disease from progressing. There is a diet that really makes a huge difference in my pain levels, similar to the candida diet - no sugar, no wheat, no animal fat. Drinking lots of water helps. Some herbs and vitamin supplements help. But the only real treatment is surgical excision of the endo implants.

I was also diagnosed with endo at 26. I had surgery several times and did Lupron and it made a major difference. I used a lot of supplements during the treatment, but it helped hold off the endometriosis while I was waiting to get to a better place to have a child. Feel free to send me a PM if you have any specific questions. I ultimately had the hysterectomy after having my son.
