i so relate! all i want in the morning is a big bowl of cereal with blueberries and soy milk. instead, i'm eating scrambled eggs with tofu and lots of cheese, bacon, and toast with peanut butter. how backwards is that? i swear, the gd diet is so odd. meat and lots of cheese and peanut butter are GOOD, but orange juice is naughty! eat enough, but not TOO much, but not TOO little either. i tested for ketones this morning and had trace ammounts, so maybe i need to keep a jar of peanut butter next to my bed.

i LOOOVE honey nut cheerios! are you TRYING to torture me! hee hee. actually, since we're raving co-op types, we get the cascadian farms organic version of honey nut cheerios. not bad either! oh, and i love talking about cholesterol...just so i can brag. in my family, we have high cholesterol...only the the good kind is abnormally high, sending our total number up. i had it tested last year and my nurse was shocked that my hdl was 90. my moms is over 100, and my aunt's is 80 i think. most people have an hdl of about 40 or so.

okay, so, i had lots of contrax yesterday, but they seem to have calmed down now. i was sort of freaking out last night, actually. i've been counting the seconds until we're full term...and now that we are i'm getting nervous! i told dh last night "most of the time i feel so ready, but ither moments i think 'what? we're PREGNANT???'" a little late in the game to be realizing that one, i know. hee hee.

to calm myself down, one of my best friends and i went to the mall and walked around (which brought on more contractions). we mainly window shopped, but i did get two grain heat packs with herbs to microwave and use on my back during labor. i used one last night and it felt soooo good, smelled divine.

our bed frame comes today!!!!! i can't wait!!!!!

oh, and i will probably go into labor this weekend JUST because our schedule is so full. tonight, we have to pick up our farm produce and donated pastries for tomorrow's API meeting. tmr, API meeting, then a bday party for one of dd's favorite friends. sunday, our baby shower/blessing/picnic, and another bday party for another of dd's favorite friends. my mom is coming down sunday for the shower and spending the night...so hopefully that will give me a chance to rest after all the excitement.

Congratulations Heather, Go Racheal, lets get some more babies coming.

Both Dh and I thought last night was going to be the night, I had 6 hours of contractions 3 minutes apart, getting progressivly longer and more painful, but then they tappered off. I've already had a bunch this morning.

Im riding the cervical check roller coaster. I gave into my love hate relationship with it and asked to be checked. I can handle being pregnant another week, but I need to know that something is going on with all the hip, bladder, contraction pain, etc. Well I'm 2-3 50% and a -2. The midwife (who was just loads of help ) said it could be any time or in 3 weeks, gee I knew that even without a check. At least it does make me feel a bit better, all the pain isn't for not.

We are shotting for a Monday baby (the next day the midwife is oncall) and hoping for before Wednesday, the Doula is moving out of state that day

prenatal this morning - cervical checks (eman'smom) - i'm with you on the checks. i am going to try and NOT ask for a check. i had one last week and there was nothing going on (which is good, since i wasn't even full term until today)...but i still felt discouraged. i kept thinking of shane's wise words 'what will this information do for you?'. i'm still tempted though!

Go Rachael!
Christine, how are you doing? Eman'smom, at least your body is getting ready! I hope it's soon.
I'm not getting cervical checks either, although when i asked my mw about it she said that it's completely up to the mother, although they might want to check at 40 weeks if i haven't had the baby, if that's ok with me. I'll be ok with it then, i think.

CT--John Ritter died?? I just saw that Johnny Cash died too.

What's up with all the late night cereal? I did it last night too, it is a good nighttime snack. Last night really sucked, I got up at least 10 times to pee, and then I couldn't sleep between 2-4:30. Not that it's unusual to pee a lot or have the insomnia, but I usually don't go to the bathroom that often, thank goodness. Tons of braxton hicks, but nothing to write home about.

Just as I suspected the contrax subsided. I'm just really tired now.... as I was unable to fall back asleep till 5am (when dh left for work). Luckily my ds chose today to sleep in. (Till 7:30am - he is usually up at 6:30am). What a good little ds!!

Talking about people dying - I was at a funeral for my girlfriend's father yesterday. It was sooooooo sad. He was 53 and fit as a fiddle. He played hockey, golfed, danced..... and not an extra ounce of fat on him. Last Saturday night, he just had a massive heart attack and died with no warning. He served on many volunteer boards and was very well known in our community. Everyone is just devistated.... especially his family. It was such a sad funeral. I was trying so hard not to let the emotions get to me. I was a little worried it would do something to my bp. It was almost impossible to do. My dad is the same age as him.... and there are a lot of similarities between my family and her's. It just hit too close to home. I just cried and cried through the whole thing. Pg hormones probably didn't help. :

well, my prenatal was good and bad today. i get so stressed out. the midwife we saw today is very understanding and cool, but i can't help but be stressed. having had PIH with dd in the last few weeks, and now GD in the last weeks with this babe...i have this overwhelming feeling of 'what next?' and 'what's wrong with me?' that's in addition to the 'oh my god, we're FULL TERM...we're having another BABY' feeling that has overwhelmed me in the last 24 hours.

the bad: stressed going in, for starters. my blood sugar has been great during the day, but has been borderline in the morning and i was burning ketones this morning (a sign that i didn't eat enough right before bed). i'm supposed to add in a snack around midnight and see if that helps. i also have to go in on monday for follow up. lucky me. oh, and what really sent me spinning - since i had the 3 hour glucose test last weekend, my one good vein is all bruised, so they had to stick my hand for a blood test. ow ow ow ow ow ow! between the 3-hr, the daily glucose tests, and getting stuck today...i feel like a lab rat.

the good: my bp was great. hurrah. my blood sugar has been great during the day, like i said...so that's good. the only midwife available to meet with us for our last minute appt on monday is one of our favorites and also the most liberal in the practice. yippe. the baby is doing just fine and is prolly around 7+ lbs now...so that's good. i measured 3 cm smaller than last week, so the baby is lower too (but still floating). oh, and i passed my gbs. hurrah.

and john ritter and johnny cash died????

Congrats to all the new mamas out there! The list went from none to quite a few pretty quickly!

I haven't been posting much but have been watching all the great talking going on!

Good luck and vibes to apple, eman'smom. cobluegirl, and ******'smom..... hope you get there soon!

Extra lots of vibes to CTmom- definitely don't want you to have to get induced!

So I have lost my plug and this morning was having ctx about every 7 minutes, but they seemed to have tapered off for now. I thought it was so strange that I could feel myself breathing while I was sleeping having these ctx. Anyone else get the feeling that they're really not asleep during those?

mamarsupial- I have the same deal with my cholesterol. I have a whole bunch of those good ones and the right amount of the others. Makes my overall levels look a little higher, but I'm always told that since it's all those good ones, it doesn't make any difference.

Have a good day mamas and mamas-to-be!

Woo Hoo Rachael!!!!! Congrats!!!!!!!! I'm soooo happy for you... I knew you were going to go soon!! Can't wait to hear the story.

OK, I'M NEXT..... PLEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!

Went to my check up today... I talked to both of them today, for like 20 mins in addition to the check up! They are both on the same page as far as not wanting me to go past 42 weeks... And they were very caring and understanding about my concerns, but feel that the reason I'm hiring a doctor is for their opinion, and that they really feel strongly that after 41 weeks gestation there is added risk... just as there is added risk for other things, and that each week after 41 weeks, the risks go up and up for a healthy baby. They explained that we have a perfectly healthy baby in there now, but for some reason, and they see it all the time, when they let it go on, waiting for women's bodies to produce Pitocin on its own, they check and "no heartbeat" or other major problems.

They decided to let me go until Next Monday, (a week from this coming monday, sept 22nd) just to give me the benefit of the doubt, but told me the best thing i can try to do to induce on our own, is get my husband's sperm... that it may not work, but that is the best advice he can give. I also let him do another internal, and he said, the baby is still "way up there" not even dropped into the pelvis.

He also explained that if at this late date of gestation, what ever "problems that would cause a possible c-sect" would happen regardless of induction or not, if i were say 38 weeks and they induced, yes, then the risk is higher for a c-sect FOR THAT REASON, but he added, if i'm having an emergency c-sect, it is just because that's what was needed regardless of induction. He said, you know i've told you time and again, whatever your birthplan says, you can do whatever you want, unless something happens and you or the baby are in trouble, then your birthplan goes out the window, and i take over, that's what i'm here for.

I really think he cares and I know that he's really thinking about me because when i walked in (with DH and DS... always) the two of them are looking at me and then at eachother, and Dr. G said, you know, we both (him and Dr. C) go to bed each night thinking aobut you and you are the first thing that we talk to about when we see eachother in the office the next morning, like "heard from Tracey yet?" haha I feel much better about whatever they decide to do with me and feel that they are really trying to take my concerns into consideration, and that i'm really not just a number to them.

So, my new outlook is, i'm going to trust them, hope that i go naturally before the 22nd of Sept where i'll be 42 +4... And i think that will be way long enough, I may even consider letting them do it by next friday the 19th if it gets to that point...I want to be firm, but i don't want to be a fool either... they are professionals, and I do trust them.

hey tracey!

i think you have the right attitude. i've been thinking about you a lot too which makes me think about what i would do if i were in your shoes. i am 38 weeks and can't fathom being pregnant for another 5 weeks.

i think there comes a point when, if we feel they're putting us first, we have to trust our docs. it seems like that's the case with yours. going past 42 weeks seems scary to me, and i personally would get induced if that were the case. yeah, pitocin is bad and all, but there comes a point when you have to see both sides and trade off. heck, there's worse things than an induction! not the end of the world in my book. and maybe, who knows, the babe will decide she's had enough of that warm, wet, crammed uterus and decide to come out before the 22nd.

i think you're making the right decision!

Welcome Josephine!!!
Congrats Rachael!!! Can't wait to hear your birth story!

It is so strange--no one has been giving me the "you're ready to pop" line yet, or "oh, you're still pregnant"...etc. Until today. And I got it from at least 7 people!!! I'm only 37.5 weeks. I'm trying to not think of it as a sign, and instead prepare myself for more comments for the next 3 weeks or so...I wonder if there is a reason that I would look different today though, she's been engaged in the pelvis for almost 2 weeks.

It has been storming here, and my braxton hicks have been stronger and more frequent. Nothing exciting though.

Congrats Rachel and Heather! It's always fun to read about more babies arriving.

This is the first time I've been on line in a couple of days...not because of ds, but because I've had a cousin visiting, and we've been doing the tourist thing (including traipsing around Edinburgh Castle this afternoon!).

Not exactly what I'd expected to be doing 4 days post-partum, but...we had a lovely visit with my cousin, so it was worth it.

DS is doing well - my milk has come in, so he's finally getting fed. He's asleep on my chest as I type...so, so sweet. I'm doing great. Been walking the last few days, helps clear my mind. I lost my plug last night!?!?!?!?! Whats up with that at 34 weeks. Of course I say my sons 2 weeks before he was born and with my daughter 3, and was having blood streaked mucous for 3 weeks. Just feeling like I'm opening and with a 3rd baby the mucous is not at ALL indicative of labor and it will still probably be at least another month. My body keeps making more in any case. I don't want a really early baby...at least 2 more weeks. Have been feeling stronger B/H and LOTS more pelvic pressure too. No I just want to be ready just in case and everyone can pull this post up for me again when I hit 42 weeks

Okay, I'm not "due" until the beginning to middle of October and I'm starting to get impatient... LOL I think it's from reading this thread!

Seriously, I don't want to have the baby yet. I have too much to do. My house is still in disarray since dh hasn't completed moving the bedrooms around (okay, not the actual bedrooms, but the stuff in them!), and I still have to organize the little girls' room - oh, but I can't do that until dh finishes! UGH!

I'm so not ready for this baby, but then again I am. The CTS is killing me (thanks everyone for your advice, the problem is that I've had it for 10+ years and the only temp. solution that will work anymore is the steroid shot), and I'm swelling up like a balloon. I have floaties in my eyes, and I know that a headache will be forthcoming. What's bothering me the most though is that I know if I call my doctor she's just going to tell me to lie down and take it easy. I just can't do that now. However, I do know that if I do call her, she'll probably be as concerned about the baby as I am and will probably want me to come in and be checked. By her calculations I'm 35w1d, which allows me to birth at the birth center rather than up at the hospital, but I still think that it's way too early for the baby to come, you know? Yes, my second child was born at 34w and had no problems, but I was younger and healthier then... Oh, I just don't know what to do now.

Meanwhile I've got my dh PMSing because I can't really help him move anything. He is trying to put up a good front, but I can see that he's not happy about my wanting to rearrange the house *again*. LOL Poor guy!

Oh, congrats to all who have had babies since I last posted!

Rikki, I feel the same way you do! This kiddo can't come yet we've got SO much to do still! Course I think you've got more, but I understand the feeling and I'm due next week! I swear I feel like the only woman 39 weeks pregnant who isn't ready for the baby to be born yet! :LOL I also felt so horrible when I was up and going all the time, got *very* bloated, headaches, my hands hurt more (I'm so sorry nothing else helps you, I've had CTS for 2 years now and its no fun at all!!), and I was just *so* tired that I just couldn't do much even when I was pushing myself. If you can somehow find the time, or *make* the time to lay down for even 30 minutes it helped me SO much. I may have lost a little time sleeping/napping but I had a LOT more energy afterwards and could get more done. Yeah I know, in the middle of all the big work I wouldn't have listened to myself either and taken a break. :LOL I drive myself nuts now because I'm not up and doing stuff all day long, but for my BP and general sanity I just can't... but I can sit here and point out 30 things that need to get done, and I think I'm driving my Dh nutty too, ordering him around (nicely of course!)...
