Just wanted to add my congratulations to Tracey on Chloe's birth - what a lovely name!

Rachael - your labour sounded like my second one...we made it to the hospital 10 minutes before dd2 was born. It's amazing how different labours can be, though...ds gave us lots more warning (although the intense bit was only about 2 hours, which was similar to dd2).

Hugs to all those still waiting for labour to start. It will, and you will soon have your babies to hold as well...

My name seems way too far down that list! :LOL

Kate--I can totally identify with going crazy with all the "when are you having this baby?" questions. Yesterday someone asked if that day was my due date (?) and I said, no, i have 2 more weeks, and she said something like "oh, short people just don't carry very well" (I'm 5'2''). I know she didn't mean it like that, but you know how it is late in the pregnancy and hearing these comments ALL THE TIME....ugh. Anyway, hang in there mama--the babe will come.

Jamie--Mamarsupial is 100% right about this. Have them stay in a hotel. I even invited my dad to come this weekend to help out with ds, and told him recently that I wasn't sure if I could handle company right now, and that I definitely am not up for houseguests, and that I was sorry but he totally understood. And I was the one who asked him to come! You should NOT have to hostess right now. If they do come, even if they're in a hotel, put them to work. Have them cook for you or do laundry or something.

Ds seems to be feeling better this morning...bless his heart, he got sick 3 times last night. That is SO unusual for him, I have no idea what caused it. Maybe a virus. He has no fever, and today he's snuggled on the couch watching cartoons and hanging out with me, taking it easy. Thanks for the well wishes.

Since I'm never going into labor, I figure this gives me plenty of time to read, so I thought I'd pass on a recommendation for the book I'm reading now that I think is wonderful. It's called Natural Health After Birth; The Complete Guide to Postpartum Wellness by Aviva Jill Romm. She's a midwife and herbalist and she writes so well. It's so easy to read and I'm already halfway through it. Anyway-- just thought I'd let you all know. After I finish this one if I find any more before I go into labor- if I ever go into labor- I'll pass those along too.

Speaking of hurricanes, did they have to name it Isabel? That's what we're naming this baby, and it's so weird seeing the headlines... "Here Comes Isabel", "Ready, Set, Isabel!", etc, and I'm due any day. I guess it's kind of cool, as long as people don't think we're naming the baby after a disaster...

mamaley - hee hee. i think isabel is a beautiful name, hurricane or no. it was my grandmother's name and dd ella was very close to being an isabel. when there was a hurricane andrew, i teased my brother andrew about it...but it was nothing compared to the many moments of teasing i put up with being named after a natural event - autumn! hee hee. i still love my name. if anything, i think it would give you added strength knowing that your babe will be an isabel - strong and mighty!

and my name is even further down that list! i feel very warm and mellow today though...having the house all to myself for the first time in a long while. maybe i should go take a nap...

Thank you for your concern. I already feel much better. This morning just overwhelmed me.

Dh came home early for lunch. We ate, went upstairs for a little bit, then laid in bed and watched 'Law and Order' until I had a few contractions. Then we went for a walk and now he's back at work.

Honestly, I don't know how you mamas with kids already can do this. It's so stressful!

And when my family gets here, I am going to tell them (nicely) to stay at a hotel. It really is too much to expect of us and I am sure my mom will understand.

jamie, glad to hear that you're feeling better and that you're sending them off to a hotel.

about doing this with kids, i'm kind of nervous, especially since ds is sick. he has thrown up twice today, too. my poor baby. i keep thinking, what if i go into labor?? the woman who is going to watch him has a little boy of her own and won't want them being together. what will i do? and, most of all, i don't want to be away from him when he's sick. will someone please reassure me that i won't go into labor till after he's better? lol

LOL, I feel huge and bloated too. Everyone is asking me "when was your due date" and I say "in 2 weeks!". hehehe. And thanks for the reassurance that I won't go into labor till he's better. It's weird, but I wonder if my body would let me, knowing that ds needs me?

I found out today that the people who are watching our son when i'm in labor are going out of town around Oct 10, and that my mom, who recently had shoulder surgery, must return to work on Oct 13 because she won't have any more leave. Babe is due Sept 30, so I really hope she doesn't stay in an extra week or so! I'm trying not to worry about it--after all, I still have 2 weeks till my edd.

Okay I should have found this page a long time ago. I was due Sep 12, lost my mucous plug 12 days ago, have been having fierce braxton-hicks for 2 weeks, have tried acupuncture, homeopathics, senna tea, and am the crabbiest mom alive. I think it's worse because my son was 2 weeks early. my poor husband and 2 year old. Do Ijust need to calm down and trust this baby will come when ready? Yes of course! But how? I haven't answered the phone for 2 days and I have 14 messages saying some variation on "have you had this baby yet?" Have these people ever been pregnant?. Okay I'll stop ranting. Everyone is probably so glad such a crabapple signed on. Sorry!

welcome arussell! i'm pretty crabby too...although it comes and goes. at the moment, i'm crabby...so i'm going to take a long bath while my hubby cooks dinner. taking a b-complex vitamin in the morning and at night seems to help my mood though. we've also been getting funny movies from the library (like 'best in show') and that also helps...but in general i'm in a 'leave me alone, i'm pregnant' sort of mood.

Hello All~

Congrats to the new babies! How exciting.

I'm 39wks today and still don't feel that the baby will be coming anytime soon. I just keep saying that it is easier to care for the baby inside than out. I remember so vividly how hard it was the first three months with a brand new baby. And we didn't even have any problems just usual sleeplessness.

ds#1 is asleep now and ds#2 is at the gym with daddy. ds#2 (Issac) did not take his nap today until 3pm. He's supposed to get up at 3pm. I laid down with him at 1:30p and fell asleep. He left and went to play. I was awoke by screaming and crying. I was not suprised to hear him because he was tired and ate like nothing at lunch. Since Theodore (ds#1) wakes up at 5:30am he needs to be asleep by 6:30pm. Make it very difficult when both are not ready to sleep at the same time and it is the older that needs to be asleep before the younger. Go figure.
