ergo questions

Okay, I finally started using my Ergo with my 3 month old baby (who weighs over 17 pounds). It does not hurt my back or anything, but is uncomfortable on my shoulders where the straps sit. More of a rubbing discomfort.

Where do you clip the part in the back? Do you put baby in before or after clipping the back piece?

How do you get a child on your back by yourself?

I wear the clip kind of high on my back. Putting the baby on your back takes a bit of practice and patience. This might help http://www.ergobabycarrier.com/instructions.html

I have the clip just a few inches above my bra strap, but if I put the baby in first I can't buckle it myself. And I'm pretty flexible.

You clip the shoulder strip rather high, in the neck area. You also have the baby in first before clipping.

I put Emma on my back when she was about 7 months. She had enough torso strength then (sitting up) that I didn't worry about her sliding sideways.

The way I do it is the "Hip scoot". I clip the carrier on with the pouch at my right hip (instead of on front or back, and you can use your other hip if you prefer). Put the baby on the hip. Fip up the back and snug up the baby. Make sure that the back comes up fully.

I then reach with my Right hand to the right shoulder strap, slip it in halfway. Reach with the same hand back to hold kiddo in place, then reach with my Left hand to it's shoulder strap. Haul kiddo onto back. You might have to lean forward a little bit. Clip Chest strap.

Ergo has some on line instructions...Hope that helps with the visual!

With the clip up high I can buckle it after putting baby in, but it's not comfy up that high and it won't slide down. The straps are rubbing underneath my arms unless the black buckle is much lower.. like below my bra strap. Also, aside from not being able to bucle it myself, I can't hook the hood onto the d-rings when it's that low.

I think the problems may be a result of my short waistedness. My MT is way comfier for me.
