It has ganno linoleic acid (GLA), a chemical precursor to progesterone, a horomone which ripens the cervix and causes contractions. Basically it helps your body make the horomone if it's going to. It also has essential fatty acids (EFAs) so is all around healthy for you taken orally, omega3 a such, in fact 5000mg a day orally whether in late pregnancy or not pregnant at all is recommended, so no harm done even if it doesn't have a real effect on labor.<br><br>
PS Flax seed or hempseed oil during the rest of pregnancy would be preferable, up to 36-38 weeks.
