I had what was supposed to be a very boring 38 week pre-natal visit today. Because I thought I would be in and out I had both of my kids with me and thankfully DH left work to go too. I literally had no babysitter today. My mom is driving home today and my friend was at another hospital with her son.

So my midwife comes in and feels around and said "hmmm I don't feel the head..." which is odd because this midwife practice is very good and all the other times you can definitely tell where her head and her rump are. So she wheels in a little ultrasound machine and sure enough we have a breech baby! WTF??? How does that happen? She has been head down for at least a month.

Thankfully this close to the holiday they sent me right up to L&D and did an external aversion. It was really quick and Hannah was agreeable and there wasn't any stress. THANK GOD my kids behaved very well. (DS in the purse will do that).

The only thing is that they say they do see this a lot in women who have had more than two births. There is just a lot of room in my uterus for Hannah to swim around. This is the first time I have ever had this happen to me as well so I was shocked that we went from head down for so long to breech.

So here is hoping for her to stay head down. I got a belly wrap on the advice of a nurse so hopefully it will help to keep her in a good position.

Oh, mama, that's the last thing you need right now. I can imagine you being so distracted now with thoughts like "did she flip back, is she breech now, is that a head or butt........." (well, that's how I would be for a while anyway). I hope you can breath and relax. Sending vertex vibes your way!

That is EXACTLY how I am right now! Thankfully she isn't "huge" or "large" basically there is room for her to flip around so hopefully if she does go breech again it will be easy for her to flip right back before labor starts.

I am being neurotic about her movements now. "okay yeah that was just hands down low good..." "yep that was a foot in my rib cage".

What is weird is when we were waiting to see my midwife I felt what I thought was a butt and then a kick on the opposite side down low and I thought that her legs can't be that long. Well I was really feeling her head move up high and her foot was down low kicking. I commented to my DH that it was weird that her butt should be here but I felt a kick here.

I'm totally crashing...I had this happen with my daughter (baby #3 for me as well.) She ended up turning on her own after I had some adjustments at the chiro. I was 37/38 weeks when we found out she was breech. She flipped at some point and I had her right at 39 weeks :)

Dammit! I woke up today and I think she is breech again! Hopefully she will just flip easily right before labor begins. :(

Don't know if you "believe" in homeopathy, but have you tried Pulsatilla?

If the baby is still flipping around that easily you can try to get vertex again with a downward dog (I do a modified version because my pelvis is falling apart) and then put an icepack at the top of your belly. My baby has been every direction known to man lately but I'm determined he will end up vertex.

Have you tried putting cold things on the upper part of your belly? My MW said she had a client that "flipped" her baby using peppermint oil...she rubbed a line of it right under her ribcage. I've heard of doing cool things up top and warm things toward your pelvis. It can't hurt to try, right?

I was telling DH I thought I had heard about doing this. I might just try it. I am so confused now as to what is the butt and the head. I have a waist band to bind the top to keep her down but I am afraid if she is head up I will wedge her butt into my pelvis and that is the LAST thing I want to do.
