That you're gonna be let go from your job? I had that feeling at my old job and wahla, I was laid off two weeks later!! The industry that I'm in right now is pretty much recession proof and we're short staffed and I'm the only one that knows my position, but just the attitude that I've been getting from my boss is questionable - a lot of closed door meetings with other guys in the office, his friendliness has gone downhill, but his crabbiness has gone up.

I don't really care for my job, but I know that I need to stick with it and hang a little longer before bigger and better things will happen for myself and my family, but I still can't help but have that 'sick' feeling like something is going to happen. We're closing out the end of our busy season, so what's in store for me once it slows down?

I work my a$$ off - always coming up with new things to do or how to improve things around here. My work is impeccable. I'm a team player and my boss has recognized this......I feel like I belong to some degree......

soccermom i can only share my life story and life experiences. and therefore the attitude i have come to from that.

just like my marriage breaking up was the best and the worst thing that happened to me, so were all the jobs i left. yes life was really hard after that. and yes i did have the sick feeling. and yet i have also been at a job where i lasted almost 2 years hating every single moment of it.

now there are people for whom this does not matter. which is great. they are able to focus on the outcome. the money that lets them do what they want.

not me. my work was my life. esp. if i am going to spend 40 to 50 hours of my life on it per week. more than i spent with my dd.

what has helped is i have been thru it a few times and survived. so i am a little more confident of how to make it work. i mean yah the world looks like its collapsing - but its more fear of the unknown. i have survived once, i can survive again. and yet underlying all those fears and panic attacks was a sense of elation, of peace, of RELIEF that no more do i have to be tormented any more.

what is it? life experience they say says a lot. so so so true.

one more thing though. remember sometimes the decision is not in their hands. so no matter what you do, they just cant hold on to you for various other reasons. they try their level best, but it just does not become financially viable.

so good luck. fingers crossed.

Could be anything - but yes, I was totally mentally gearing myself up to be downsized in October. It helped me cope with the uncertainty to be making concrete plans for "when I got laid off." It turned out I was not on the list. But I was SURE I was.

I am feeling like that today.
I got a call from my interim boss who told me she received some feedback from my acting GM (he is really the head sales guy but covering the region)
Apparently he thinks I provide different level of service to different levels of employees. Honestly, I have no idea what he is talking about, everyone get the same high level of service and response time. I am really upset he did not come to me but rather went to a peer who happens to be covering for my real boss. To make matters worse, when asked for examples he couldn't give and and said "it is what it is"
Seriously, that is just a cop out in my book. Now I am going to have to confront him which my preggo mind so does not want to. I am worried I will get hyper emotional.
SO we are working on a reorg right now and he is one of hte main people involved. I am worried his opinion of me will make me not needed once the reorg is done. WE simply cannot afford for me to loose my job as I am the primary breadwinner, expecting a second child and there are no jobs open right now, anywhere. Freaking out just a little. I know I can only do my best and if he has already made up his mind there is very little I can do to change that.
