Consider hosting an exchange student!
You get to learn about another culture without leaving home and your children can learn a second language and be exposed to another culture. YFU-USA is looking for families interested in hosting an exchange student (ages 15-18 from 27 different countries!) coming in August for the academic school year. They attend a local high school, have their own spending money and insurance. You provide a bed (they can share a room), access to 3 meals a day and lots of love! We accept host families of all types (young children, old children, single parents, retired couples) and do not discriminate based on religion, sexual orientation or any other factors.
I was an exchange student myself three times and I can't tell you how much my host families meant to me. I'm still in touch with them all. I truly believe that world peace is achieved one person at a time, which is why I support international education so much.
