Does anyone have any tips or dvd recommendations for exercise while wearing baby? I currently walk the dogs with Riley (who is 4 weeks old), but would like some indoor routines to do with weights/stretching/etc. while Riley is in the sling. I do not want to end up injuring myself... Riley pretty much always wants to be held or in the sling, whether he's awake or sleeping... Thanks!

When my ds was that little, other than outdoor exercise, I did a lot of dance (mainly Middle Eastern dance) DVD's with him in the sling. No bouncing or jumping, and he enjoyed the movement. I tried to switch so that the sling was on one shoulder or the other.
When he was older, and I could go to a front or back carrier, it was a lot easier because his weight was distributed between both sides. Then, I added squats and some lifts with hand weights.

I know you aren't supposed to run or jog with a baby in a carrier, but I had to once...we were on a walk and this enormous bee started chasing us!!! I ran for quite a while..and he was laughing the whole time

I did these with my baby, they aren't intense but are fun and get you moving. My older DD loves doing them with me too.
The other dvd's I do with DS in the carrier are the walk away the pounds series.

If you get a wrap, just go to the Moby wrap website and they have some pictures showing the "model" doing squats and lunges with babe in the wrap.

I tell ya, the BEST thing I did for my post-partum return to any kind of strength and aerobic fitness was our daily dog walks with my daughter in the wrap. Still is one of the best things. 'Cause the funny thing about kids... they just keep getting bigger, so you just keep getting stronger! I'm about ready for a backpack carrier, though... 19 lbs is getting heavy on the front :)
