i am just on day three of the yeast cleanse diet and having some questions. first, the diet is so hard for me--not only to quit caffeine and sugar but this particular diet, recommended by my doctor, has no grains allowed. so i'm supposed to do this for 30 days and then there's a second part for another 30 days. i only eat salmon, no other meat/fish, so i'm already feeling like my diet consists of about 5 things.

so the questions are--what happens when i'm "done" with the diet? can i go back to eating normally? how do i know the same thing wont happen again regarding yeast overgrowth? and what happens if i end up cheating some on christmas? will the whole month's progress be blown?

and...the diet says i can have "green apples"--do you think golden delicious apples are "green" or do you think that just means granny smith apples? i ate a golden delicious and it was soooo good, so i'm guessing that means it's on the no-no list!

thanks for the help

well, i'm not going to be much help, because i did the yeast cleanse diet for 2.5 months and I still have yeast problems.

i honestly feel, though, that a yeast cleanse diet ought to be more personalized than the standard list of things to/not eat, kwim (aside from the biggies--no refined sugar, flour, etc)? I've had to do some experimenting, but am slowly drawing some conclusions about the real food culprits for us (gluten--namely wheat, corn seems to cause problems, and currently suspecting dairy, too).

i felt rotten on my yeast diet, it was incredibly hard to follow, and it definitely didn't cure me, but i know alot of others have had success with anti-candida diets. i'd recommend reading this thread: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=941070

Don't disregard it because of the title--the thread contains a TON of info about yeast and how to manage it in the body.

Just my two cents--keep us posted on how you're doing! Blessings.

wow, i can't thank you enough for pointing me in the right direction! i did see that thread when i searched for yeast+diet but i didnt look into it. i am only a few pages into it and already it's answered so many questions! what's funny is that i had a surgical birth too, and havent really felt good since becoming pregnant--so the thread is really interesting to me.

i can't believe you were on this diet for 2.5 months! i really dont know if i could make it that long...i'm just dying for a banana and a piece of toast!

thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me!!

How's the diet going? I'm starting my research now. I have a major YI. I know that I eat too much sugar. I read the body ecology diet last summer. It has a lot of info, but I didn't really change my diet. it's so hard to change eating patterns.

I've been on a yeast-free diet since August. At first it was very strict. After two months I started allowing more fruit. It's still pretty limiting, but I'm feeling so much better.
I also took an herbal Yeast Redux pill everyday for two months to kill the yeast. I think this has really helped in conjunction with the diet.
