I'd make sure you get a natural one like 7th Generation. Other fabric softners are filled with toxic chemicals as are dryer sheets which contain known carcinogens

Don't use it at all on your prefolds, fitteds, pockets, etc though because it will coat the fabric and make it repel instead of absorb. Thus...the pee won't be able to soak in and it will leak.

And not on fleece pockets either.

I use dryer balls. They work fine for keeping things static-free.

I don't use any softeners at all on any of the diapers. Period.

I do use Ecover softener on baby's clothes sometimes -- primarily the blankets. But never dipes.
