I'm filling out the FAFSA and I am 35 weeks pregnant with #1. Can I say we are a family of 3 or do I have to say 2 or should I wait 5 more weeks and say 3?

I know I'm not the first pregnant person to fill out a FAFSA!

I haven't done mine yet, but I would think you could put 3. After all, you *will* be a family of 3 at the time that you receive and use the aid they give you, right? I think having kids makes you eligible for more in assistance.

In my (and DHes) case having the kidlet is the difference between grants and loans. We have loans from DH already, and we are working, but I need something 'better' (ie more $$) my field (hospitality) isn't exactly thriving right now, and I am working in retail, so I was going to go back and get my teaching license.

I'm just always afraid the gov'ts going to "find out" that I cheated by a month on my FAFSA!

We had to deal with this and unfortunately the Financial Aid office told us that we had to wait till our LO was born. So we did what the pp did and changed it after she was born. Frustrating I know cause I feel like I spent more money on by LO before she was born than I did afterwards
