I want to plant some crops for a fall harvest. I have a huge garden and will be getting more room soon since my brocolli is almost done (unless it will flower again which i'd love to know if anyone has the answer) and some other stuff will be done soon to. i want to get extra of things to can or freeze or store. so....what can I plant and when should I plant it. I'm in zone 5 btw, and our supposed first frost date is sept 30. thanks so much

Count back from sept 30. If peas take 55 days, you'd want to count back 55 days, but then again, the peas can handle frost so you could let them go after that.

Beets, peas, lettuce, broc, cauliflower, spinach, all the spring crops.

I'm going to sstart planting this week, I'm in zone 5 too. I usually wait too long.

Broc will get little side shoots, not really big enough to get excited about. It's better to just plant more.
