Hello all. I am going to sew up some family cloth for a friend, so I have a few questions for those of you who use it please!!! When I made my cloth baby wipes, I cut them out 9 inches by 9 inches. Of course, they were a bit smaller than that once they were sewn up. They look like they might be good for family cloth though. Do you think that would work, or would it be better to make them narrower like regular tp? I guess I'm interested in the dimensions of your cloth! Also, how many would be good? They have a family of four - three kiddos ages 6 and 9 and then mama. TIA!!!

mine are 2inches square..I LOVE that that size - they are double layered, but I like that they are so small, and really you dont need em big.

Personally, I like regular old wash cloths.

My favorite size is about 3-4 inches square. I have about 2 dozen and wash every other day or so for me and two boys. (DH refuses to use cloth.) We use them for everything though - potty, face wipes, snot wipes, little drips on the counter, etc.

I'm the only one who uses them (just me and 4.5yo DS here) and I only use them for pee. Mine are double-layered flannel and are roughly 3.75x5.5 inches if I remember correctly. I tend to fold them in half again when using them so I guess they could have been even smaller.

I use old baby washcloths. They are about 5 inches square. I use them to clean with too.

I used t-shirt material. It doesn' run along the edges, so I don't have to sew it (I don't sew, really). I had an abundance of this material (but recycled t-shits...a-hem, t-shirts) work well, too.

Mine are about the size of 2 sheets of tp. I have a whole little "bucket" of them...a bucket, say the size of a large sherbet (but not ice cream) container...probably 75-100 pieces, I'd estimate...maybe more. I can go for a few days w/o wash.

My family is small...just me dp and ds until this baby comes out!

Recycled t-shirts is what I use, too. I probably got the idea from MDC. As I lose weight, I've been tossing so many big t-shirts. The light-colored ones, I'm cutting up into family cloth - they work great!

I have smaller cloth about 4x4 for #1 and larger ones for #2, about 8x8 so its easier to fold over and wipe again if needed

Mine are 4x6 inches, made of fleece - like sweatshirt fleece, fuzzy on one size, smooth on the other. I have 50, I only use them for pee, DH doesn't use them at all, and I have to wash them mid-week. No way can I make it a week without washing. With that many people, you're looking at at least 200 washing twice a week, I would imagine.

4 x 4 for little people bathrooms and a bit larger for big people.
always 2 ply.
