Please tell me I'm not the only one!

I sew, and I've been SO looking forward to making myself some pretty sundresses, and some great batik skirts, and I just love my summer wardrobe. Yes, I know that there's little chance it will actually fit this summer, but I can hope, right?

I'm so looking forward to not dressing so plainly because maternity is either godawful stupid expensive or really really plain. I want my bright colors, full skirts, and all that jazz.

Anything in particular you're looking forward to about being out of maternity?

Well, I definitely am looking forward to non-maternity clothes because these stretchy belly panels are ITCHY! But I'm not fooling myself--I'm going to look about 3-4 months pg for a while, probably all summer, going by history with my last pgcy. Pregnancy is the only time my belly looks toned anymore!
:LOL

But wow, I'd love to know how to/have the inclination for sewing--that would open a whole realm of possibilities for making flattering clothes!

I'm definitely getting myself a pair or two of cute shoes--I've already got one picked out

Why not make yourself some cute maternity clothes?? And no you are not the only one. I sew all my clothes and I was dreaming today of making a new dress for summer... all the while I don't have enough maternity. duh, right??

a) I'm a slow sewer
b) I don't do much with knits
c) My sewing area is being packed away so we can put floor down in the baby's room. I'll have it back when she's about 3 months old.

I'm definitely ready for real clothes. I have clothes in bigger sizes than my maternity wear is now, so I'm hoping I'll be ok on clothes. Really with my son I was back in my normal clothes by six weeks. I just didn't show my stomach off.

I have to admit that even though I am usually a very modest dresser, I am a total exhibitionist when it comes to going to the beach. I love to wear the tiniest bikini possible, because I am a sun-worshiper and just love the feeling of sand/salt water on my skin (though I do slather on the sun-block). If we get to go to the beach this year (crossing our fingers), I am going to have to wear either a maternity suit, or something that will not reveal the still-fresh stretch marks and sure to be poochy belly. Bummer.

I actually have several non-maternity shirts that I can wear as maternity shirts {I'm wearing one right now!} I just look for things that are loose/flowey. I've also found that I can get away with wearing the 1x or 2x size non-maternity clothes from wal mart. I am not a small person, either...I'm 5'4 and weight about 155 lbs pre-pregnancy {and I've gained at least 30 so far this pregnancy.} It's really about trying a bunch of stuff on to see what works.

The nice thing about getting some looser, non-maternity shirts now is that they work really well for the post partum stage when none of your regular clothes fit. I did the same thing my last pregnancy, and since I was exclusively pumping for 6 months I bought 3 nursing tanks/camis {white, black, and grey} that I would wear under my regular t-shirts. Its great because its an inexpensive way to expand your nursing wardrobe.

I keep eyeing some dresses and such that I was starting to look good in before I got pregnant, but probably won't be able to wear for about 2 years because they don't have nursing access.

I do look forward to being able to wear normal tops again. Maternity and non-maternity are giving me fits right now, mostly because of the bust. I am looking forward to figuring out what size I'm going to settle into, bustwise, and getting one of those Bravado nursing tanks, and I want to try to make my own as well (I have a serger, so I LOVE knits). I have pattern drafting software to make clothes that really do fit well. Just have to actually get to sewing!

And I hear you on the slow sewing for maternity stuff... I have a top pattern traced out from Ottobre, but haven't gotten around to actually cutting it out in fabric yet. And the funny thing is that it'd probably take me less than an hour to make it, since it's basically a T-shirt, and those are quick and easy on a serger. But I also haven't completed my diaper stash either... lots of sewing to do. And I get to thinking about sewing clothes for me and realize that I may only have 5-6 weeks left (I tend to go early), so is it worth sewing anything for me? Definitely need to get working on the diapers again though... I've temporarily lost my sewing mojo.

"but probably won't be able to wear for about 2 years because they don't have nursing access. "

Reasons why I plan to pump. I ADORE my sundresses, and I'm not going to not wear them for years because I'm nursing.

The thing is, I just learned how to do the full bust adjustment, which makes me really really excited to sew again. I'm very recently well-endowed (go go gadget hormonal boob job) and so was having a lot of frustration with finding clothes that fit my boobs. Now I know how to make them! And I wanna!

I just need to know how big the girls are gonna be when I'm done
