It's a bit of a drive from Providence but Casey Farm in Saunderstown sells pastured chickens and eggs. They have a farmer's market every Saturday form 9-12. There is also grass-fed beef and lamb from Jamestown (Watson Farm) for sale there as well.

I have gone to Casey Farm a few Saturdays this year and they were not selling eggs. I was told that they are only selling them to their members during the week. Has anyone gotten eggs at this farmer's market? They are absolutely the most delicious and I really want some more !!!

oh bummer. i thought they saved some for the farmer's market. i know their supply has been really low this year due to the extreme heat. (we raise chickens and our production was way down too...i only have a couple of customers and i've barely had enough to provide them.)

I had totally forgotten about this web site. It's great!

Now of course...just because a farm is "local" and sells eggs...doesn't mean they are the eggs you are looking for. Some of the farms on this list are small factory farms, I'm sure. "Free range" and "cage-free" mean very little these days. What you are looking for (I think) is eggs from pastured chickens.

Southside Community Land Trust's Urban Edge Farm sells local, free-range, organic eggs from chickens in Cranston. You can order the egs through the Urban Greens cooperative- check out the coop at urbangreens.org . They also sell the eggs at Hudson Street Market (in the Armory) and a few other local places. You could call SCLT to find out the Providence retail locations that sell their eggs- contact info: southsideclt.org
