When DD1 was a baby, I hadn't yet discovered natural family living. We used the baby care products we got at showers . . . Johnsons and Johnsons, etc.

This time around, I would like to use natural and/or organic products. I would love to hear what your favorites for baby care are!

TIA!

Avalon Organics, Aubrey Organics and California Baby. I avoid parabens, sodium lauryl sulfates, petrochemicals, phthalates and artificial fragrance. I buy most of it at drugstore.com.

Burt's Bees is pretty good too, but they use fragrance.

Weleda and burts bees are the ones I like best. I have tried a few other products but these have been great. I also like Frost Fish Cove and Melinda's Lotions and potions off Hyena cart too.

Weleda is great, we use their diaper creme. For baths I love Earth Mama Angel Baby. They have a foaming shampoo/body wash. It is the most pure baby care line on the market.

A lot of "natural" baby care lines are still full of junk. My rule of thumb is, if I can't pronounce the ingredient easily I don't buy the product. And don't fall for the "it came from coconut" line. Lots of chemicals were involved in the process.

I'm a big fan of California Baby. I've used their unscented shampoo/baby wash for years. It's always rated really safe on the Skin Deep database.

Druide is hands down the best stuff that I have ever used. It is made in Canada and I can find it at the Whole foods in Toronto. It smells great, naturally.....and I have a wonderfully clean little person when we are done a bath, and best of all no reactions....

I don't know what I would do without California Baby...their calming shampoo/bodywash is the ONLY thing that doesn't dry DS's skin out and make his head itch so bad that he scratches himself silly. I use it to wash my face too! Next time I run out I am buying a gallon off their website if I can afford it. Their Calendula cream was a lifesaver when he was a newborn and had a horrible case of eczema, it literally turned his cheeks from flaming red sandpaper to smooth soft silky clear baby cheeks in 2 days. For his body, for some reason the lotion that agrees with him best is Burt's Bees Baby Bee lotion, I don't know why since it has tons of fragrance but it agrees with him. I love Burts diaper rash ointment too and it is fine for cloth diapers!! The Weleda calendula baby cream actually GAVE DS a rash where none existed before, so I can't recommend that one...

I love Druide.

We also have Burt's Bees.

And DH's family are organic farmers so they're always picking up little bars of homemade soap or whatever from the farmer's markets.

I use hug-a-dub-dub. It's all natural and made by a mama in Vermont. A little goes along way. We're still using the baby wash, baby lub and Chamo-Lano-Dula Salve that we got when Ana was newborn.

Dr. Bronner's baby soap is all we use on him. I've been using Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap since I was a young child and have always loved it. I put unrefined shea butter on his butt sometimes when it gets irritated. I use shea butter as lotion on my hands and legs and like it much better than any actual "lotion".

Another mama for California Baby! I love their Baby Shampoo. My daughter tipped her head back at just the right moment when I was squirting some out of the bottle onto her head and the shampoo landed in her eye. She got mad at me because I started to flush her eye with water. Also, DD will steal the washcloth and start to suck soapy water from it and it has never caused her any problems. I take the cloth away from her, but you know how lightning fast baby reflexes are.

For diaper rashes, I like Burt's Bees stuff over any of the regular brands because it works very well for baby's skin. It also washes out of cloth diapers and doesn't leave a fishy odor, which I found happened with Desitin. Hylands also has a decent ointment for diaper rashes. It heals DD quickly.

I like Burt's Bees apricot oil, as well.

I made my own baby wipes, but I use Whole Foods wipes in the car. They are gentle and don't cause any discomfort to baby whereas the Johnson and JOhnson Natural Care ones (which we received as a gift) gave DD a horrendous rash. They are not "Natural" but filled with chemicals.

Hope this helps.
