My dd loves the beatles, the bare naked boys, hannah montana (yup), and pretty much all the disney stuff (from disney radio). My son is into WE WILL WE WILL ROCK YOU and Sha na na na, Sha na na na, hey hey hey, good bye. Whatever that song is. Well, he's TWO, so perhaps not so much what you were looking for?! She really likes the kidz bop cd's, but she likes "my" music too - the doobie bros., James Taylor, Elton John, Billy Joel, etc.

As far as 'kid' music, DS has been listening to his Music Together and Putamayo World Playground CDs a lot these days. (TBH, I find most 'kid' music incredibly irritating and we don't buy it. I ADORE the Music Together and WP music, though, as well as Dan Zanes, and the They Might Be Giants and Lisa Loeb 'kid' stuff.)

On his stereo shelf right now he also has: Guns n Roses, The Time Life Treasury of Christmas, The Very Best of Elvis Costello, The Breeders, Vince Guaraldi Trio's A Charlie Brown Christmas, and Parliament. He's also a huge Ramones fan.

I told you it was eclectic.

My girls love Christmas music and we listen to it all year long. But, for kids music, they love Strawberry Shortcake, Veggie Tales and they each have a personalized CD that has great, traditional songs on it:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Happy-Birthday-T...QQcmdZViewItem

We love Raffi (baby beluga and all that - he has since retired to become a children's activist )
Johnny Cash has a children's album that our preschooler just loves too.
Fred Penner is pretty good, not my favourite but the kids like it.
Oh yeah, and Charlotte Diamond is awesome. She sings in English and French and the songs are fun (I recommend 'I Am a Pizza' and 'Octopus')

I think most of these people are Canadian (as are we)

DSD really likes electronic music. She loves Ferry Corsten's "Rock your Body Rock."

Architecture in Helsinki is another favorite, especially "The Cemetery." The In Case We Die album is cool for the older kids because they have a grid on it showing what instruments were used in each song.

Right now, it is all Christmas music all of the time.

They basically listen to what we listen to, and they seem to like what we like (probably because they get positive feedback for it).

my 3 yr old loves Sly and The Family Stone, Sandra Boyton cds (particularly Dog Train), Raffi, an album called 'children's silly music', Bob Marley, and David Bowie. Oh, and wee sing is a favorite too, particularly from the videos. Actually any music that been played on her favorite movies or in her dance class she loves since she has an association with it.

And live music. Any genre, as long as its live she will boogie herself silly to.

Our new favorite it Ellis Paul's new children's album, The Dragon Fly Races. I really like it and DD adores it. It's fresh and smart. It's pretty funny to hear her walking around the house singing the chorus to Wabi-Sabi: "They've for wabi-sabi soul/treat them like friends/'cause they're as good as gold/ They've got Wabi-Sabi soul."

Everything from Laurie Berkner to TMBG, to all sorts of 80s stuff, to (thanks to dh) AC/DC, to Hannah Montana, to a collection of pirate songs, to Abba, etc.

The favorite in our house right now is old school Violent Femmes. I'm not really concerned about the bad language but there are definitely a few songs that are not appropriate. Also the Beatles, Tori Amos, Tool, Live, Dido, No Doubt and Gwen Stefani my DH LOVES Gwen). We listen to a lot of funky old blues stuff as well.

We also listen to a lot of really old kids music/poems/stories on actual tapes. They were ones I had when small that my mom saved. We listen to some Dan Zanes. And, once a week, on library day, we get a new "kids" cd or tape to listen to.

Eclipse95, my monkey really likes the Femmes also. She likes to thrash around to them and release some pent up preschooler anger, although we have a tendency to skip 'dance mother****er dance' too

My girls love Laurie Berkner. And my 4 yo loves hip hop and rap. In fact, she rarely tolerates anything else. I think the bass is soothing to her.

Sweet Honey in the Rock "STill the Same Me"

Variety of story/music CD's from "www.shooflyaudio.com" that makes awesome mixes of music/stories/poems for young kids. My ds is really into the stories right now so he's loving these.

Dan Zanes music

Mostly now he's really into the books on tape we have been checking out from the library, so much into the stories that he hasn't wanted to listen to much music lately.

My 5-year-old daughter loves listening to Led Zeppelin. She always enjoys listening to Get the Led Out on our local classic rock station, which comes on half an hour before her bedtime. She hates listening to kids music, and always cries whenever she has to hear it.

My 15 y/o listens exclusively to Japanese rock.
My 11 y/0 listens to whatever everyone else is listening to.
My 6 y/o LOVES good ol' rock-n-roll. He listens to A LOT of Neil Young (his fave), the Dead, Led Zeppelin, Tea Leaf Green, Jimi, CS&N, etc. Sadly he also likes that Kid's Bop garbage.
My 3 y/o likes to dance her cute little butt off. She likes whatever I am listening to...AND that aforementioned .
