I get a $20 diapering allowance this paycheck.. hehe.. (baby steps to build up that stash), and I was thinking I'd like to try a pocket diaper. So far our entire stash is one dozen UBCPF, two Bummis SWW covers, and one Snappi. : I wanna try something new that maybe hubby can get in on (how hard can stuffing a pocket be?), and that will work with what we've already got (figured I can use our prefolds as the stuffers. ) Plus I've heard pockets work decently at night, and it would be wonderful to be able to have him in cloth 24/7. (I know fitteds and wool are supposed to be the best for night, but we just don't have the funds for that yet.)

Sooooo anyway, what are your favorite pocket diapers? If it matters, my guy's got some lovely chunky thighs.. hehe.. and a bit of a Buddha belly. He's almost 14 months, about 25 lbs, and about 31 inches, I think. (In case any others out there have had particular luck with one brand fitting especially well on a child that size.)

I particularly liked Knickernappies if you can find one. Aherne topstitched them and they look so beautiful and professional. They fit my little peanut nicely too. She's selling her biz though and her dipes are hard to come by.

Happy Heiny's are nice for a PUL/Velcro pocket. The sizing is trim but generous and the solids work nicely overnight. Fuzzi Bunz have a slightly shorter rise IMO and independently adjustable legs/waist snaps. They also work well for many people. I believe Monsterbaby used to have a wool pocket, and though I've never tried it, the idea intrigues me.

Personally, I'm a bit partial to all-fleece pockets myself.

I've tried many different kinds and must say that fuzzi bunz still rank the best in my book. I like that they are snaps, b/c I hate how velcro can end up sticking to other stuff during laudering and then you have to, "clean" the velcro of fuzz, etc.. Also, I like the fleece better than the suedecloth. FBs are also the trimmest AND we have NEVER had a leak in them. I also like how they have waist and thigh snaps, some pockets, like snapping turtles and wonderoos don't, and if you have a baby who doesn't have that, "perfect" body shape, it will not work out (eg: my baby is very small waisted, but has semi-chunky thighs, both of the pockets I mentioned above were a disaster on him). Also, they have good resale value and they dry very quickly line drying. The only downside is that they are a little bit boring compared to all the cute WAHM dipes, but after trying all types, the FBs have proved to be the most reliable for us and worth the $. I think the best thing to do is to get several different pockets to see, which one will fit your baby best. After trying them out, I will guarantee, you will notice right away, which ones work for your baby and which ones don't. Then when you find the one you like, sell the others for more spending $ and then you can concentrate on getting more of the ones that work for you. Some ppl make the mistake of buying a ton of one type of dipe w/o trying it first only to discover that it isn't going to work and now they are either out a lot of $ or have to sell them to buy different ones. Good luck!

I love FB's too! I've only ever tried them and wonderoo's but we can't do suedecloth. nak'ing, or I'd give more info. But ITA with Mags.

I like wonderoos. Especially for stuffing with cpf's - they're bulky but super absorbant and the cpf's fit fine if you fold them shorter and then in thirds. Knickernappies are nice, but if you're planning on using your cpf's for stuffing, they won't work. I've only ever tried one FuzziBunz, and it had already been well used. I wasn't that impressed with it, but it wasn't a bad dipe. Not so great for stuffing with cpfs as well.

I vote for Fuzzi Bunz.

Super trim, never leak, and are easy to use! I personally hate aplix/velcro, so the snaps make FB my fave!

Fuzzibunz - so much so that I have sold Eliza's entire stash apart from a few fitteds and wool covers for night, and purchased 18 Fuzzibunz and microterry inserts. I loved hemp but have to say I am LOVING those microterry inserts, one for day is all we need. They are soft and light and must be comfy to wear, no hard wodges of hemp stuffed in there.

I used to prefer happy heinys but the fit on her isnt good anymore, the rise is too high.
Plus I dont like aplix, it ruins other items in the wash, it gets tatty and looks awful and she just undoes it straight away.

Wonderoos are nice with the suedecloth inner, but they dont fit all babes all the way to tt - and I do not want to be buying an entire stash again now - I only had to since she's just outgrown all her mediums, had a bit of a spurt.

Fuzzi bunz for us too. Very easy for husbands too, especially if you pre-stuff for him. And you can also use it as a cover if it is the last cover-type item you have clean, just snap it over the prefold for a few changes.

We've enjoyed our Ella's pockets. They have velcro, which makes for speedy changes, which makes them great for out & about. They also come with an insert, so they're a bit more economical. For nighttime, I'd think a prefold & an insert would cover most. Also, for nighttime, look for a solid PUL outer (not the prints, even though they are cute!).

hmm, I am torn between Wonderoos and Happy Heiny's. I have both and I'm actually considering just buying a couple dozen of these and using these full-time.

I really like my Harleyz Pockets. They are so trim! I think I would like to convert my entire daytime stash to these. For night, I would prefer something with more room to stuff.

fuzzi bunz here. Everything Mags said. I don't like velcro because it gets gross and I hate having to remember to stick the tabs back when it's a poopy explosion. I like the extra snaps, because my baby never did that good with wonderoos types without it. I have never tried a wonderoo but I do not like suedecloth. And I don't think my fb's are boring. I love passing that stack of colors They work, and I don't have to think about it. And when going out or with people staring at me, there's no fuss just put it on and I'm done.

Wonderoos!!!! They are the only thing I trust to put Sarah to bed in every night. When I stuff it with a large Babykicks Hemp prefold I know that will hold all night and they also hold the biggest bf poop explosions with no leaks. I really love the way they fit dd right now - so much better than our Fuzzi Bunz.

We've only tried Fuzzibunz so far, but we love 'em! And they make a BLACK diaper! I'm still a goth-girl at heart!
I've heard Wonderoos are great too, but I haven't tried them yet. We have a limited allowance for diapers here as well.

My favorite is wonderoos. DH prefers "the velcro ones" LOL. Happy Heinys. I really like the suedecloth inner of the 'roos. Poo just falls right off of it! And it doesn't get pilly. I think it would feel like a bunch of little bumps and be uncomfy. FB's are ok too, they work really well, but ds doesn't like to lay there long enough to snap two sets of snaps. Ok, so the 'roos end up being 4 snaps total too, but at least I can let him crawl away with only half of them done. :LOL

The TP rocks. So does ebay. The only dipes I've ever gotten new were 3 'roos when everyone had the buy 2 get 1 free sales. Everything else was pre-loved, and CHEAP!! LOL

Fuzzi bunz here.

Although I've never tried a Wonderoo, Ella, or any of the others and am curious about how that might work for us...

I love our FBs, but we need hemp inserts with dd's power soakings. I've found that a hemp trifold from Little Lounging Lizards fit and they work great for our nighttime changings, although we did size up for it. You might want to consider that with the CPFs. It won't be as trim though. The microterries are fine for the day.

I didn't like HH. At the time I was a big aplix fan, but I found the PUL to be too thick to be breathable for dd. I find the FBs better for that. Not to mention, when dd was very little, the ripping sound would wake her up during the night changings...
