i'm planning on using cloth wipes and need your favorite wipe potion.

i was given a used wipe warmer so i'm excited to try that-but for those of you who use a warmer, do you also use that pad that goes in the bottom? i'm a little afraid to, in case of chemicals and such.

TIA!

I stole the recipe from the Diaper Lotion Potion. It's awesome. Get an empty 8 oz spray bottle. Add 2 tbsp. jojoba oil and a few (8-12) drops each of lavender and tea tree oils. Fill the rest of the bottle with witch hazel. You have to shake the bottle each time you use it because the oils settle on the top. We had no diaper rash ever. And it smells lovely.
1/4C baby oil, 1/4C baby wash, 4C water

You can either soak the wipes in this or put it in a spray bottle and spray on the wipe as you go.

I have the tea tree oil, lavender oil, and witch hazel. What does the jojoba oil do? Do I need it?

Just water here! I have never used a wipes warmer, but I wonder if maybe you should use distilled instead of tap water in that case, and maybe tea tree oil or another natural disinfectant to prevent mildew?

We use an old Huggies wipe box (plastic), and I just take a stack of folded baby washcloths (the larger kind with the piping around the edges), wet them with tap water and squeeze out the excess, and stick them in the box. They last for probably a couple of days. Every so often I will air out the wipes box or handwash it with a little soap and water.
I use the California Baby "Diaper Area Wash." It comes in a spray bottle, which is my favorite application method. I spray it on baby's bum and then use a dry cloth wipe to wipe it off. I prefer to just buy it premade (I'm still on my first $10 bottle and my baby is 7 months old) than to buy all of the different ingredients, but I'm sure it's easy to make your own potion. With my twins, I often used to just use water.

I'm not a fan of wipes warmers since I believe they are an unnecessary use of electricity.

HTH!

I love the scent of Royal Ribbitts Heiny Wash by London Frogg. She's on HC.

The California Baby spray is pretty convenient, too.
isn't that much straight witch hazel a bit strong on baby's bum? I use some but not that much.

I use 1 tbs witch hazel, 2 tbs my fave smelling baby shampoo (I like one of the mainstream brands that has a lavender scent) and 1 cup of tap water. I don't use the cushion at the bottom, not because of chemicals but because you are supposed to replace them often and its just an unnecessary expense IMO. I do make sure that I don't put more than 2 days worth in the warmer at a time though so we don't get any kind of mildewy smell. Sometimes I just put the liquid in and keep a stack of cloths right next to the warmer and dip them as needed. And in the summer, with it being so warm, I've stopped warming them. But I still use the container. Its much more durable than a regular plastic container (had a huggies container flip over with water in it when I caught the edge w/ a diaper...what a MESS that was!)

I am afraid to use any kind of oils because I dont want it to clog up the absorbant pores in the diapers.

My recipe is similar to pp's....to boiled water I add TTO, lavender essential oil, a bit of witch hazel, apricot kernel oil, and a little baby wash. I dip a stack of wipes in that, and put in the wipes warmer....and then store the rest in a bottle to wet more wipes as needed.
The jojoba oil is necessary to make the stuff softer. Although now that I think about it, I always wiped baby with plain warm water and then sprayed her bum once or twice with the 'potion' which is probably why that amount of witch hazel never bothered her. But the recipe is exactly the same as the Kissaluvs lotion potion . . .
