I don't see one, so I'll go ahead and start it. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> And I have to put a party face by it for my four-year-old.<br><br>
We're back from our long, long trip visiting relatives. DS1 was gone almost the whole month of June, and only saw his dad once in the middle. Poor thing, he had lots of fun (and learned to swim!) but he got pretty homesick by the end. Thank goodness he's such a good traveler. It was way too much driving for a now-four-month-old (and for me!), but he did really well too. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> They are both so good I feel like I ask more of them than I should, because they usually can handle it. We did cloth diapers the whole trip! I was afraid it wouldn't go so well, but it wasn't a problem. My mom occasionally will put him in a disposable if I'm not around, because she bought some and feels like she needs to use them (sigh), but other than that it was all cloth.<br><br>
My mom also influenced me to introduce the baby to water. I know they get plenty of fluids from breastmilk, but it was so hot (and I've been using up all my self-control not giving him food off my plate that he wants) that we gave him some. Now he gets super excited whenever he sees a cup or water bottle. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> I don't give him much, but it's a helpful tool to keep him happy in the car.<br><br>
So glad to be home! Now we have to figure out our schedule again.

Re:schools. Our kids will go to the public schools down the street. I'm not planning on doing preschool anywhere and may decide to skip 4K (public) too.<br><br>
Re:nail clipping. I cut DD's fingertip a little bit the day she was born! She came out with super long nails and I had to cut them on day one. I didn't cut DS's nails for the first time until he was weeks old.<br><br>
Re:nursing. DD is having a tough time nursing at non naptimes too. She is also starting to try and grab my food and opens her mouth that is constantly watering/drooling. I really hope I can hold out and wait until she is 6 months before I give her anything to eat. Like Linchi - I may just do water for a little bit.<br><br>

Linchi - yay to using cloth that whole time! That is a lot of work. I usually wuss out and bring disposables when we are away from home, but it always backfires because DD will have an explosive poo and I end up regretting it.<br><br>
Chiro/Osteopath - no, DD has not seen one. She doesn't seem to have any issues though. I really, really, really want to see one but insurance doesn't cover it. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"><br><br>

Those of you whose babies are showing an interest in food, do your lo have any teeth? My lo is showing no interest in food. My oldest didn't either until he was about 8.5 months and got his first tooth.

My DS has his first tooth as of yesterday <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> He is showing interest in food but he isn't ready yet so we will be waiting for quite a while.<br>
linchi- I have taken DS to a chiropractor a couple of times (maybe 3?). He had the cord wrapped pretty tightly around his neck and over his shoulder and around his body. I noticed he kind of favored his left side, especially when nursing. The chiro said there were a couple of places out of alignment and it seemed to help. Now that he is older though, it doesn't seem like he needs it that much. It was neither here nor there for me with him but super crucial for me <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"><br>
I am getting all sentimental now that DS has a tooth. It is like I was just getting through one thing to the next and then all of a sudden almost six months have flown by and my baby is growing up <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"> Please tell me time doesn't go this fast for the rest of their lives? Do I ever get a moment when it slows down?<br>
I had a friend have a baby a couple of days ago. It made me miss when DS was a newborn and that special everything being new time. Part of me was tempted to want another baby soon, then I remembered that I am just wistful for what I already had and it wouldn't be the same. It was hard but also such a sweet beautiful time.

Hi everyone - been so busy but wanted to check in!<br><br>
DS is doing well - no teeth yet and hopefully not for a while. DD didn't get one until 10.5 months, and I'm hoping for the same here. He's maintaining his growth curve, and is now in 12-month clothing - we had to move him out of his bucket car seat this week because his head was at the "inch below the shell" maximum. Luckily he's also maintaining his 50th percentile weight, so he's not *too* much of a lump to carry. He's wearing the CDs that DD wore at 2... such different kids.<br><br>
He's also showing some interest at the dining table but I suspect it's just interest in "stuff" rather than in food itself. I have hopes he'll be a late weaner because I do NOT feel ready to start solids any time soon! DD had a banana before she was 5 months and I can't believe he's at that stage now - but I don't think his tongue thrust is fully gone yet.<br><br>
We are trying to figure out a way for me to stay home when my maternity leave is up in January. I went back to work when DD was 6 months, and while we have a good dcp, I would really love to be home for a couple of years with the kids. So we're learning to be frugal and I'm trying to curb my CD buying tendencies (not very successfully yet!). But I'm going to start part-time EC with DS because he has nasty rashes whenever he gets wet and sposies aren't an option. I'm bringing up the BLPP tonight - DH is going to think I've finally lost my mind... <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"><br><br>

Nicole730 - we did the same thing for a trip we took to see the IL's last month - I took cloth for the visit, but had DS in disposables for the flight because I figured cloth would be a PITA in the airports. And of course DS had a poop explosion, in an over-the-head romper OF COURSE, and I had to change him on the bathroom floor of a restaurant when we got off the plane. Argh! We used cloth on the way back <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1"><br><br>

We had a tooth cut through on Friday morning and I think she's working on another. Oh, I'm so not ready for teeth. I think her amber necklace is helping a bit, though we have had to use the teething tablets a few times.<br><br>
I'm trying to decide whether I want to go up to my Dad's place at Houghton Lake this weekend. It's about a two hour drive and it will be by myself but it will be my only chance to get up there this summer.<br><br>
Jeremy is leaving for a conference in Houston on Thursday. He'll be gone for 10 days and it's only just now kind of hitting me. It will be really weird to be alone all day, and go grocery shopping on my own (we usually go together). It seriously does. It sucks, but just helps you to remember to enjoy each moment and each stage. Part of me wonders if I will ever be 'done' having babies because I love the baby stage so much. Re: teeth. My DD was almost 1 year before she got teeth (she walked 2 months before popping out her first tooth), so I don't consider that necessariliy a solids-readiness sign (or lack of). She was totally ready for solids at 6 months, which is when we started.<br><br>
DS finally pooped out all the sand he swallowed at the lake last Friday. It was this whole thing, involving a massive poosplosion. I told the full story <a href="http://whatdoyoudoalldayathome.blogspot.com/2010/07/day-tripper.html" target="_blank">on my blog</a> if you want a laugh at my expense this morning.<br><br>

I did! I did it with DS1, too, and he's never had an ear infection - I on the other hand, had MANY ear infections as a child and actually one of my first (worst) memories is having to get my ear drum ruptured manually by the doctor at age 4 or so. Ugh.<br><br>
Anyway, yes, the baby has been checked twice and was pretty good both times. We get DS1 checked a few times a year, too. Our insurance covers it, so it's not a big deal for us to decide on. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/shrug.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="shrug">

No teeth here, and all kinds of food-grabbiness. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> Poor thing, it seems so unfair to make him watch us all eating and not give him anything. *sigh* But I discovered a danger of giving him water to keep him happy! We were at a restaurant yesterday and I was giving him little drips with my straw, and then one of the times I went to put the straw back, and it was my husband's straw, out of his TEA! The baby gave me a big grin... I guess that's his first non-milk, non-water taste (non-grass, non-cat-fur...). Ooops! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/redface.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Embarrassment"> Luckily my husband doesn't drink sweet tea.<br><br>
Wish me luck, in a little while I'm taking him in for his four-month checkup. We have a great pediatrician, and last visit he didn't even say a word about vaccines, but I'm still stressed about the possibility of a "we're still delaying" conversation. *sigh* I had a dream last night about an OB appointment where the doctor didn't approve of my unwillingness to get a routine ultrasound every visit, so he got even by keeping us waiting for the "just one more thing and you're done" for two hours! Seems like a waste of the nice late sleep the baby gave me this morning. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngtongue.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Stick Out Tongue">

W is doing great! Turned 4 months on Saturday. No toofies just yet, but he has learned to roll from back to tummy with no problem. Enjoys his little bumbo seat, talks and talks - LOVES to hear himself talk. We go back and forth and he's such a riot!! His little squeals get louder and louder. He's also starting to notice when mama walks away or leaves the room. He doesn't like that too much - which melts my heart. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love"><br><br>
I'm doing awesome! On a low carb diet with moderate exercise. Not sure how much weight I've lost but my clothes are feeling great, a little loose here and there - tettering between sizes - but I'm feeling energized enough to take on 2 kids!! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up"><br><br>
Family stuff: got some stupid drama crap going on with my parents - such a long story and stress that I really don't need right now, but it is what it is. DH and I are planning vacations for next year - Turks and Caicos, possibly - and a family vacation to some place soon - like San Diego to visit friends. Just hanging out at home right now, doing a little painting here and there, yard work, stuff like that. Pretty lazy, laid back summer for us. Oops, sorry, the Baby Bjorn Little Potty. DS can sit on it (me holding him) and pee. I've caught 3 pees - 2 yesterday and one this morning. I'm still figuring out the mechanics of it all, but I think it might work!

I'm also pretty new to the board. My name is Nicole and I'm a first time mom, but a 3x step-mom. My February baby, Maxine, was almost 3 weeks early and was supposed to be a March baby! I too can't believe how quickly it's going! She shows lots of interest in eating as well, but no discernible teeth as of yet. Loads of saliva and chomping, and maybe a little rough spot that could be a tooth. Yesterday, when I ate lunch with her sitting on her play mat, I felt doubly guilty because both she AND the dog followed every bite with drool running down their chins <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink">!<br><br>
I'm loving mommyhood, but I feel bad that the dog, cat, horses, chickens, veggie garden, my knitting, the house, the barn, the yard, even the husband, are on the back burner! How do you mommies with more than one LO manage everything?

My supply has been long gone since I went back to work. It just wasn't in the cards to pump where I work and my supply wasn't keeping up with W's demand. But all is well and he's doing great. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love">

<b>Perdita</b> good luck with the ECing. we have done it right from the start and love it! I find that I go between being somewhat vigilant for a while- meaning offering ds lots of chances to pee/poop in the potty, and then other times completely letting it go- when it is too overwhelming- and letting him go mostly in his diaper. And other times a middle ground. I am glad that he understands a concept of releasing pee/poop into a toilet/potty even though he is still fully diapered. So I guess we do it semi full time- I at least offer him the potty a couple times a day but when I am feeling energetic I offer it all day long- like every time I think he needs to go. It is fun though, having that communication about it.
