Happy April everyone.

I can't believe we're at 2 months already! But at the same time it seems like Lauren has been part of our family forever. Aubrey is mostly a great big sister, but has her moments (I wouldn't expect anything else, honestly). Lauren loves to look at her, she'd stare all day if Aubrey would stay put!

Every evening Lauren gets fussy, and I have finally figured out why - because the sun goes down and she can't see out the window anymore! So, on the really bad nights, I've taken to holding her so she can see the tv. Not a habit I really want to continue, but it helps now and then.

Hope you are all well!
Time is flying by. I can't believe my DS is almost 6 weeks old! He was just born yesterday, it seems.
I'm really noticing a change in him. He's becoming more aware of what's around him, and I think he can see better. He's looking at so many things.
I didn't plan this, but for the past 2 nights, he's slept for 5 and 4 hours straight. Normally, I would wake him up at least every 3 hours to eat, if not every 2, but I didn't wake up either. I hope that's okay. It is so nice to get more sleep, though.
BTW, if you missed it, I'm pretty new to MotheringDotCommune; I joined just before giving birth, so I didn't have time to get to know you ladies. I introduced myself in last month's Feb. post.

Even though my boys were born 8 weeks early I still am sticking around you guys.....truth be told Im too scared to venture off to another group.....lol

We are all doing good here. Boys are getting big. They are rolling over, and 1 of them is scooting all over the place already. I got them rattles last night, that they both fell in love with. They arent able to hold them for very long but they liked them. They both love tummy time, and even sleep on thier tummies. They tend to go 5-8 hrs a night sleeping, most of the time together, once in awhile one will wake up to nurse during that time span.
lilgsmommy-Wow scooting around already! Things change a lot when they get mobile! I am glad you are sticking around here with the Feb. mamas, we would miss you if you went elsewhere and this way we can get a preview of what is coming up soon!

Leslie-Welcome! I say enjoy those longer stretches of sleep! Of course it may mean fertility returning sooner, but I would rather be well rested and need to think about birth control personally!
Welcome Leslie! Glad to have you here!

Leah is 10 weeks old now and (thankfully) seems to be done with having nightime fussiness. For the past week or so, she's been giving me a 5 hour stretch of sleep and then wakes up every 2-3 hours after that initial stretch which I'm loving. My dd1 didn't give me 5 hours until she was 2, lol! So Leah is getting easier while my 4 year old is getting harder. I really pray she's just going through a phase because I'm about ready to mail her off to a randomly selected address!
well - april has started out as the worst month ever - my 5 week old dd ivy rose was admitted to the hospital last thursday with rsv - now mind you no one had listened to me at the 3 dr.'s visits i had brought her in for because i did not like the sound of her cough - it was not till she was having trouble breathing that someone listened - and our hospital stay was a 4 day nightmare - the first night i happened to mention she does not like to be put down....i have just always assumed that was her personality - they decided it means there is something wrong with her, that she is fussy and inconsoleable- and that there is something wrong with our breastfeeding - she is very small - she did not take to nursing too well at first, but for the last 2 weeks before being admitted was gaining an ounce a day, and no one was worried - the hospital would only look at her birth weight and what she weighs now and completely attacked me - calling in lactation consultants and even asking for a nutritionist - and they kept us an extra day for all of this - fortunately we met a nice lactation consultant and nurse who took care of everything - going through her chart and telling me of all the misinformation it was filled with - of course my ds picked up the tummy bug while visiting us and has been sick for 5 days - going to the emergency room twice - and now dh has a touch of it - i am just praying dd and i do not get it and our lives can begin to get back to normal....her rsv is doing great btw - thanks to anyone that made it through this whole post - i am at my wit's end and feel like sobbing.......

martinshockeymom - *hugz* I'm sorry your lil one is sick.. that's rough.

Courtney does not like belly time. She kicks and screams and tries to flip over but just cant get around her big belly. It's cute. I got her an exersaucer. When can she actually use it? I know it says "when they can sit up on their own" but when will that be? I had to get it now because baby stuff goes so fast on base. The Japanese don't have the same safety standards as Americans. They don't have exersaucers... They still use walkers.

She is also alert and looking around at everything. She smiles and coos a lot at me. Especially in the mornings and after her bath. I love it!

We're going to the beach tomorrow!! I don't think I'll let her get in the water... I bet it will still be too cold for her. I think we'll have lots of fun though!

What are you all doing for Easter? What are you getting your new babies? Its hard because everytime I find a good toy she might like I just give it to her.

I haven't thought about Easter at all yet (we aren't real big on holiday gifts), but I completely understand giving the toy right away - last minute shopping is my only hope for keeping a gift for a special day. Even with dh, once I have a gift for him, I just can't wait to give it to him.

4-5 hours in one stretch is great! After about 2 weeks I (personally) don't wake a sleeping babe to eat, especially if I am sleeping, too!

My first baby wanted to be held all the time, and was a champion comfort nurser, but this baby fusses to be put down sometimes, and doesn't nurse for comfort at all - so different. I never imagined there would be so many differences this early, so I am very curious how things will be as dd2 grows. :)

eta - we hate tummy time over here, too! we only last for a few seconds at a time.

Karin, I'm sorry you and Ivy have had such a rough time lately. I wish I lived close enough to help!

I won't be buying anything for Leah for Easter, but I got my 4 yr old a few things that I'll put in a Care Bear basket for her. She'll do an Easter egg hunt thrown by her preschool and that's about it for us.

Leah sleeps on her tummy about 80% of the time so I consider that her tummy time, lol! I'm a bit sad to see her losing all of her newborn qualities (like the bobbing head and they way they retain their shape when you pick them up) because she's our last baby but I'm also enjoying seeing more of her personality peek through.

Oh my gosh.. Me too!! My ds and dd are just like this. Ds was a high needs little guy. Still is. DD is much more relaxed and less fussy. She likes to be put in her bouncy chair and watch the world. It's funny I think ds was in arms for the the first year of life that was the only way he was truly happy. But dd likes to be put down.

I have a pretty little yellow dress for easter for dd that my mom bought her and a head band and shoes. My ds has a findinn Nemo outfit that he picked out himself. And my mom bought all of their easter clothes. She did this last year and the year before of ds. I think we have a tradition going. She also bought ds a basket with two motorbikes in it. His favorite thing right now.

So Friday we had dd two month check up and dd is HUGE!! She is off the charts on weight 14lbs 6oz and 98% on height 23 1/4 inches long. She can hold her head up off the floor and has really good head control. She is starting to fit into her 6-9 month clothes already and I am thanking the heavens that I had a cousin who gave me all her little girls clothes. She has only been wearing 3-6 month clothes for a little over 2-3 weeks. She wore her 0-3 month stuff in conjuncition with some of her 3-6 for awhile but she had a growth spurt and over night it seems she is growing our of 3-6.
Ok so a bit braggy but I am so in love
. I can't wait to see her personality bloom.
Oh how I love my chunky babies.

Oh, me too!! DS still doesn't sleep 5 hrs and he's nearly 3.5. Kaia is not sleeping that much yet either, sometimes I'll get 4 hours but it's more like 2-3. But she also likes to be put down while awake. Not when asleep--she'll only sleep 10-15min if I put her down or nurse to sleep in bed and leave
so we are getting a lot of use out of my many slings. She is definitely easier than DS was (and is!!) though. Think we can get a better rate on shipping if we send them together?? He is driving me up a wall. If he freaks about crumbs on his shirt one more time I am seriously going to lose it. And I really want him to potty train already b/c I am sick of changing his poopy diapers. He poops more than my newborn!!!

I can already tell lots of things about her personality--she's stubborn and curious but not as intense as DS was. She's more of an observer where he was a "doer" For those familiar with Raising Your Spirited Child, I hope she is just "spunky" not outright spirited. She is very perceptive though--light and noise still bother her, she doesn't sleep in the car, and she won't sleep outside either, I think because of the noises. I would call her semi-high needs. If I have a third baby will I finally get a mellow one?? I doubt it--my kids are high strung like their mama

Hi guys! Haven't posted to the babies group yet, because ds was born on 3/1 and I'm still getting the hang of life with two! Even though he was a Marchie, I'm sticking with the Feb. 06 club that was so awesome in my pregnancy.

Martinshockeymom - sending hugs your way! Sounds like things are getting better, though.

Rachdoll - I know what you mean! Ds is only 5 weeks old, but it is hard to remember him not being around. Crazy mom memory!!

Sleepymama - Isn't it fun watching personalities bloom? I still believe I could tell ds was a mellow baby from when he was inside me. It turns out I was right. I knew it!

Our little guy is pretty easy, but life with two has proven to be so, so much more difficult than I anticipated. Ds1 is almost three, and although he is incredibly happy and well behaved, he is still a handful! Watching the two of them is so tiring! At the end of the day I feel like I've run a marathon.
damyen's mommy - WOW!! She is huge!!! I thought my daughter was huge!

We had our 2 month well baby checkup today. She is 12 lbs 6 oz. 24 inches long. I don't remember how big her head is. She was 90% across the board. Her doctor is so cool. He was so proud of her. She stayed in the NB clothes for almost 5 weeks. Then she shot through the 0-3 month clothes in 2 weeks. We've been in the 3-6 month clothes for a couple of weeks. I can't believe there is another growth spurt just around the corner for us! She's growing so fast that I havent even had a chance to take her shopping for new clothes.

Did your babes get their vax? I know a lot of people don't believe in them but dd will get them. I felt so bad for her when she started crying. I was holding her arms and kissing her head and she started screaming. I was like "honey dont cry yet, we havent even started". Then I look up and they were all done. Poor thing. Then I felt even worse when I realized I forgot the baby tylenol for her.

Her hair is strawberry blond. I love it! I had strawberry blond hair as a baby too. I think it's even more exciting that she looks JUST like me as a baby. Who do your babes look more like? Do you still play the "whose body part is this" game?

damyen's mommy - I just saw that your babe is about the same length as Courtney. Courtney was considered 90% and your babe 98%... I wonder what charts our doctors are looking at!

I can't write much now-on my way out. Glad to have found the thread. Hugs to Karin.
We are still dealing with Gabriella's reflux - daytime is rough but thankfully she sleeps well at night. It seems we've had nothing but illness and problems inthis house since Ella's birth - first she had jaundice, just as we cleared that up, dd3 came down with rotovirus, got rid of that and Ella's reflux presented. We're just starting to get a handle on the reflux (meds are finally starting to help a little) and now I've got dd2 and dd3 down sick with some sort of virus. They've been running high fevers since Thursday, bad cough/cold on top of it. The washing machine broke, had to put 4 new tires on the truck.....that was all yesterday!!! April hasn't been very good to us - can't get much worse though...... I hope

Krizty I don't know about % I could of gotten it wrong though. I was just so amazed she was so big.

reflux is soooo hard to deal with. I hope it all works out soon and you find something that works. DS had reflux and he is now 2 and I still remember him crying for hours and hours in so much pain and then anger that we weren't doing anything it is soo frustrating at times. I hope all the girls are well soon. Rotovirus is very icky thing.

Sherri-Wow what a month! I hope the rest of your week and month goes better. Why does bad stuff like that always come together?

We are still undecided here. Thankfully our doc is ok doing whatever we want. If we do end up doing them, it will be on an alternative schedual.

Well I went back to work on Friday. It was hard, but I think it made it easier that I was leaving Asher with dh and not somewhere else. I am able to be pumping enough so that is good. The hard part with pumping is that I am a substitute teacher so I never know where I will be able to pump or when in the day. Through the rest of the school year I am going to work 3 days a week. It stinks to be away that much, but we need the money and at least it is not 5 days a week.

Same thing here! I was shocked the first time I put him down (to adjust the sling in hopes of comforitng him) and he stopped fussing laying on the bed! And he will flat out refuse to nurse, but excitedly take a pacifier. I don't think dd ever refused to nurse!

Has anybody started working out yet? I've been walking, but I'm dying to start doing some heavier exercise. I'm probably going to wait a few weeks still, as I'm still bleeding a little bit, even though I'm 6 weeks PP.
DS has just really started to become more aware and interested in his surroundings. It's so neat to watch him change over the weeks.
