Hey I get to start a thread!

Well after a rather crappy August month, there is some hope yet. I got accepted into this paid teaching internship and I am interviewing with 2 schools to find out where I will be placed. So in the next week or so I should join the ranks of working and nursing mama's! I have already started pumping and got a free electric pump throught WIC. I guess my question is- how much milk does the average 6-7 month old drink? I will be gone about 7 hours a day. So maybe about 4 oz every three hours? Like 12 a day? It seems kinda daunting but I am sure I will get the hang of it.

Arayna has gained another pound and 1/2 so she is 14pds, 13 oz. now. She just started sitting up and within the past week she has shown much more interest in food. She stood on her hands and knees for a few seconds and it seemed she was going to make a move, but she ended up topling over.

Other than that everything is fine. Hope everyone else is doing good and enjoying their Labor Day weekends.

mf_colon- Congrats on the job! I'm going back full-time starting on Tuesday. However, I'm so glad I got the summer to be with Ana part-time and enjoy to leisurely afternoons. I too have been wondering how much BM/Formula to send with her.

Ana started some actual hands and knees crawling this past week. She still scoots with her arms most places, but I think she's finally getting some coordination for all those body parts. She is also into everything...we are slowly getting this place baby proofed, but it seems not fast enough.

I'm guessing sne is around 15 1/2 pounds, but we aren't scheduled for any appointments until the end of November.

congrats on your new job. seems like yu've just finished a teaching program??

dd was 15 lbs and 3 oz at her last check up which was a week after she turned 6 mths, in Aug.

she started rolling from back to tummy in the 1st week of jul. she knows how to the reverse but for some reason doesn't do much of it. she sits without support only for a few secs. loves to stand with support of course. started feeding last month and so far has only eaten semi-soft egg yellow, some raw organic yogurt, banana and avocado. didn't like avocado.

has major stranger anxiety. i wonder if other feb moms are facing this??

next week we move, wonder how she is going to take the new place. she is so not happy with anything unfamiliar. so, won't be around for some time, especailly since i don't know when the comp. will be reconnected.

Actually I will be starting the teaching program now but part of the internship is working with another teacher in a classroom setting, I guess you can say I am a "teaching assistant" right now until I finish up my Masters.

We have not come across any anxiety problems yet but our DD has only been taken care of by myself and hubby. And even when I go back to work, hubby will still be caring for her. Yesterday we went to visit family who have never seen her and she seemed ok with being passed around and held by strangers but who know how it would be if I ever had to leave her with a real sitter?

And we are also planning to move at the end of October, which sucks. We were hoping to get a transfer this summer but things happened with the prior tenants and we had to wait. But I am excited as well because we REALLY need more space!

Hope your move goes well Neera!

Sleep is for crap her lately...Anyone else?

She is up EVERY hour!!! I'm sure it is developmental, but it is making me crazy! :

I'm trying to do my best on little sleep, but it's a challenge. Thank goodness the grandparents are around to do the entertaining today.

Not much in the way of seperation/stranger anxiety. We did pass her around at a picnic and she cried. But she let some people hold her later. She hasn't seemed upset when I drop her at daycare, or when she is with her Dad, or my parents (who watch her twice a week). I'm hoping she will still be OK with familiar faces as leaving her daycare will be extra hard if she starts getting upset when I leave.

I've been trying to spend less time online and more time with my family so I've been having trouble keeping up with everything on here.
Last weigh in Suriya was 16 lbs. 8 oz. and she now has two teeth. She started sitting unassisted just the other day and she army crawls but isn't quite up on her hands and knees yet.
She's a great sleeper still, even despite teething, which was such a relief because I know how most babies sleep (or don't) during teething.
She has had a lot of stranger anxiety the last few months but it seems to be settling down now thankfully. I don't know what would have happened if I'd had to go back to work but my DH got a promotion at work, a huge one, so now we definitely don't have to worry about it and I can just relax and be a SAHM.
We are thinking about another baby, considering trying in December or so, anyone else?

hi everybody
Emma started crawling 3 days ago, she can get pretty far. She is part goat as every chance she gets she is stuffing paper in her mouth.

She can also go from tummy to sitting by herself, it is all happening so fast.:

I think our family is complete... you never know what will happen, but I have had fertility issues and just turned 39.... so if we are blessed again we will be joyful, but happy with the 2 girls we have also.

We have not started solids, we waited with DD#1 until 10 months due to allergies, and it seemed to work out, we will see when Emma is ready and take it from there. She loves to gum spoons, no teeth yet, but has not really shown a lot of interest in food. ie. it gets the same interest as anything else.

ok hope to nap with Emma today, big sis was up from 1:00-3:30 and I am exhausted
I always forget about these threads! It's nice to see what other mamas of babies of the same age as Rex-Goliath up to.

Rex-Goliath is scooting around and fairly mobile, but not "officially" crawling. He can go backwards, but not forwards. He also keeps doing this thing that looks like the downward dog yoga position.

He is big compared to everyone else's babies! He weighed 16 lbs at his last WBV... 2 months ago. He's got to be at least 18 lbs by now.

No teeth yet, but we've had some miserable days trying to get teeth. He was so inconsolable a couple of days ago that I actually gave him some baby Advil. An hour after that he was a completely different baby, back to his old cheery self.

We've experimented a little with table foods, but I really don't think he's actually consumed any of it. I just cut up a little of whatever we are having that night (if appropriate), and let him smear it on the high chair tray and throw it at the dog. Good times for all.

I've been sleeping worse than usual, because he won't tolerate being swaddled all night, and when he wakes up he kicks me and pulls my hair. I am contemplating getting a crib, partially to give us more room (sidecar it) and partially because I am afraid of him crawling off the bed.

At just over 28" and 20lbs 6oz, I think I win the giant baby contest ds gets mistaken for a 10-12 month old all the time, and he just turned six months last week! He's got two teeth coming through and biting biting biting my poor nipple. I keep unlatching him when he does it, but he's in so much pain that I think he can't help it. He crawled a few times, but he's not doing it every day, and that's fine with me! I'm totally not child-proofed; I guess I'd better get on that quick. : I didn't have any idea how fast they get mobile!

Z drinks about 10-12 oz on an average day. I gave the DCP a freezer stash though just in case, cause a few times he has been growth spurting and drank over 20 oz. I just gave her an extra 15 oz or so to keep in case he wants more at some point.

poor e has four teeth on top coming through now. four!! : he hasn't been sleeping great today but i have high hopes for tonight.

why o why do i feed my toddler rice? it's everywhere and it will get all over the house...

i was curious about the pumping question too. i have to have two root canals done and think i should pump some for that day. i think i'll have to pump and dump because if i tell my dentist (in france) that i'm nursing he'll refuse to treat me unless i stop. it's worker's paradise over here but that kind of thing really gets to me.

Hi Ladies! I think I completely missed August and most of July! :

We do the same: I bring 12-16 oz plus keep a little in the freezer as back-up.

I'm back FT again after 5-6 weeks off with the boys in July - the break was wonderful.

P is scooting but not crawling. He mostly goes backwards and ends up backing under the couch repeatedly.

We went through major developmental leaps (rolling/scooting/sitting) and cut 4 teeth at about the same time I went back to work. Talk about rotten sleep! It's improving again, in part because we rearranged our bedroom again.

P was up to 17 lbs 8 oz at his 6mo visit - he's a little chunk.

no chunky monkey here. i have two friends who had babies the end of may, so they are 3 months.... both are 15 pounds and my DD is just about 13 pounds!! but she is still growing like a weed, she has grown out of her HA tie hats and the beautiful soaker a friend gave me. and now i am on the prowl for medium size diapers.

she is just so darn cute now, she holds her arms out to me to pick her up and when she wants something she makes a smacking noise with her lips. she make it when she wanted something to eat and now she just does it for whatever she wants. and she is just so happy all the time. such a joy. and so different than my son was at this age.

We're not too chunky either, around 17#. We get the "are they twins?" question daily when people see Jackosn and Samantha (9 1/2 months apart) together.

He's not crawling on hands and knees yet, but scoots around in a low crawl position like lightning. He wants to do everything his big sister does, and they fight over her sippy cup every single day. They have shrieking matches, squeal when they see each other, and he keeps offering her my boobs, although she has no clue what to do with them. It's so cool that they get along so well, and really are each others' best friend. Everyone I know with kids a year or so apart kept telling me how awful the first year is, and how hard it would be. Not sure if it's cause of AP (but we'll say it is!) but it really hasn't been as hard as I thought it would. :

He discovered that I have two boobs the other night. It was like he'd died and gone to heaven, sweet boy. He looked left, and right, and got a HUGE grin, then nursed a little on the left, a little on the right, and then buried his face in my neck and just laughed and laughed until he fell asleep. Too funny!

Oh, and sleep has gone the way of the dodo here. Not sure if it's teeth, or developmental, but he'll only sleep for about an hour at a time at night, and cat naps during the day. A far cry from all three girls, who, at 7, 5 and 16 1/2 months, still nap three hours a day and sleep 12 hours a night. Carazy.

trying to keep up!

Joe is FINALLY 13lbs, still not on the chart. his GERD is finally under control. *knock on wood* but he's being tested for cystic fibrosis (CF) tomorrow

food- not big into baby food. mostly nurses or eats what we're eating. his GI wanted him on solids for the GERD but he's just not into it. so, we give him bits of what we're eating and he's happy with that. still VERY cows milk sensitive so i've been dairy free for over 6mths now! gosh i want cheese...

skills-crawling and pulling up. got his first black eye from pulling up on ds1's stool i'm gonna be in for it with how active these boys are. it's so funny to watch him do all this stuff because he's so tiny.

i'm looking into getting a weekend job to start paying all the medical bills. i'm not excited and neither is dh as getting Joe to take a bottle can be difficult. no babies in our near future til after extensive genetic tests on dh and i. the thought of having another baby as sick as Joe is just too scary
