Congrats, Justmama! She is beautiful, and I hope she goes home with you very very soon! She looks awesome for being early! You must make big babies like me, she was on target to be at least an 8-lber.

It's kind of a shock to have her earthside so soon, but statistically I think we're doing prety darned well for a DDC: absolutely NO micropremies, and like Isra said, it looks like she's breathing on her own and doing very well; not much less than five pounds, either.

I had the same thought. Some DDCs tend to be skewed in various directions; I remember that when BooBah was born, there was one NICU baby of the 30-odd regular posters (and he was full term, but born breech vaginally and had inhaled meconium on his way out, iirc), and that the group was split almost evenly between boys and girls (we had an odd number of kids, so there was one more of one sex than the other). Meanwhile the group right before had loads of preemies and early babies, and the group the month after was something like 80% girls (or even more). We're very lucky to be such a healthy bunch.

Is it just plain geeky that I'm eager to see the averages?

Thanks so much everyone! Things are a little hectic around here with me pumping every 2 hours around the clock and trying to get to visit her and shuffle the bigger girls around to spend time with Grace. She's doing well. Taking all feeds by bottle right now but eating like a piggy with a great suck. I'm going to try to visit tomorrow without the girls and nurse her so wish me luck that she obliges. She's already preferring the bottle. She was supposed to come home Friday but she failed to keep her temperature up at a normal level for more than 12 hours and it needs to be normal for 48 hours to be sent home so that delayed us. I had her transported via ambulence to a closer hospital with a GREAT sibling policy and a much more relaxed and much smaller nicu. There's currently 2 preemies and 4 full-term babies there and that's it! And the nurses are great and my girls are both allowed in with me at any time and they dont' kick you out for shift change. So we are hopefully trying her again in the open crib on Monday and if all goes well she will be home on Wednesday. Cross your fingers for me because I have to head back to work soon and I'd love to be able to get a week or two home iwth her before that. She's just absolutely gorgeous and her big sisters are very excited to see her and get to snuggle her though I haven't let them hold her yet. Maybe when she comes home while they sit on the couch and have adult help. I'm just paranoid because she is still small and fragile.

My son was born at 3:30 PST this afternoon. He's young, but big: at least 7 lbs but I wouldn't be surprised if he's more like eight. I'll weigh him later.
