Feeling a little down

So I know this is only my first cycle TTC again but I think I messed everything up! I wasn't temping (but I will start) so I was going by my ovulation pains and Iperiod (an Iphone app that tracks periods and shows the basic 'you ovulate 2 weeks before you start' timeline). Well, I had NO cm which was odd for me, but I had preseed so I just went with it. My ovulation pain lasted a week which I thought was super odd, but whatever. Well now I have a ton of egg white CM. I'm supposed to start my period in 10 days.

So basically I could be ovulating super late based on the CM right? And DH has been sick so we haven't done anything for the past 3 days and I'm not sure if it's too late now. I've been noticing CM for the past 2 days. Should I go get an OPK and see if I am in fact ovulating? And if I start my period in 10 days that means a short LP which is bad!

I wish this process were a whole lot easier

i would say to start bangin, just in case! i would go get an OPK just to check, but in the meantime get busy! it's not too late!

if you really are Oing now then your period shouldn't come until after your usual luteal phase length. even so, 10 days is considered long enough for an embryo to implant. but yeah, if iperiod isn't taking into account your O signs and is just assuming you'll get your period in 10 days based on the calendar, i wouldn't worry about that aspect of it too much. if it doesn't take CM and such into account then it would have no way to calculate what's up if you O late. either way good luck!

okay that almost made me shoot water out of my nose! That was so funny!

You're right. And I read the best time to take an OPK is 2:00 so I'm happy I don't need FMU. Is there anything I need to know about taking them? They seem SOOOO expensive!

There's a chance that if you are Oing now and you don't actually get PG this cyle your period would still be late...

And if you know your actual LP length you can change it on iPeriod... I use that app too so if you need to know how:

Click the gears that say "settings" on the bottom right
Click the flower that says "Ovulation" next to it
Change your phase length...

since mine is 12 days I had to change mine when i first got the app.

I wish FF had an iPhone app *(i actually use ipod touch but its pretty much the same thing)* that i could put my temps in and it could transfer to the web from my ipod. It would save me booting up my computer each morning to enter 3 numbers and shut it right back down. lol

but despite no temps and no accurate ovulation predicting... iperiods still a very handy app.

FF doesn't have an iphone app, but you can put temps/CM in if you go to http://www.fertilityfriend.com/m/ using your phone browser. i use that to input temps, CM, fertility monitor reading, and CP. i dunno if that works on an ipod touch since i have a crappy free AT&T phone, so i dunno if it will be useful to you, but figured i'd share just in case!

aimee - i have no info on OPKs as i've never used them, so i hope someone else has some answers! glad i could provide you with some comic relief.

Thank you I'll do that!

I'm trying to talk my husband into making an Iphone app like that. That's what he does for a living, but he has no idea about any of this stuff, and frankly I don't either. I've seen a few apps that you could record temps and stuff but I don't know much about them. Thinking of getting one next month.

It would make since I O late all the time though. Now that I think about it. I conceived late with DS2, so much so I didn't believe I could be pregnant. So yeah that makes sense.

I've read OPK are hard to read, I hope they're not!

Unless you get one from the dollar tree

I'll check that out when I get home, don't have wireless at work to do it now...

if you read Take Charge of Your Fertility, it says the best way to get pregnant is to watch your fertile CM. if you get a ton of stretchy CM, *this* is the time to have sex. personally, i never temped, and i didn't use ovulation predictor kits or anything high tech at all. i just paid attention to my body, cued in to my own personal symptoms of ovulation, and most important of all, watch for that stretchy CM. when you get the stretchy CM, that's when you want to have sex.

it worked for me by the third month of timing it this way. oh, and i'm 40.

if you've gotten pregnant before, as i see you have, it should work for you too i would think. good luck!

I struggled with them for a few months and the realized I just wasn't being patient. The time of day is really important - between 12 and 2 has always worked for me. When it's positive there is no doubt that it's positive. If you catch the beginning or end of the surge and it's borderline...that's when it's hard to read.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the help. Unfortunetly my test showed NOTHING. No control line, nothing. It's almost 3 so I don't know when I'll have to pee again and if I should use another one. Bummer!
