I am so sorry about your loss. It makes me so sad that our society doesn't care more about the toxins we're creating.

I can often go into a slippery slope of "what if"s and "did I"s. I know there is so much we can do and can avoid to have healthy preganancies. Yet I worked in very impovershed, very toxic neighborhoods where children were thriving and healthy and plenty of pregnant women who went to term -- eating horribly, no vitamins, not enough water, you name it.

I have lost two pregnancies. I don't know how to help you stop from feeing guilty or that you did something. It seems though, that sometimes, it just doesn't matter what we do either way. This can both empower me and worry me. I am having more days of empowerment then not.

Hope that helps you too.

wow... at first I thought you were talking about this article
http://health.dailynewscentral.com/c...iew/000191/48/

your article is the same premise, different chemical. I heard about this article after I'd already had my DD (she is healthy). I changed shampoos to one that didn't have "MIT" in it. Since then I've had one miscarriage and one healthy pregnancy. I had the miscarriage when none of my shampoos or personal care products contained MIT or that Diethanolamide stuff.

Miscarriages happen...
and our environment is toxic to babies in a lot of ways. There are so many things to look out for. It is important to keep in mind (and I know you know this, in your head) that miscarriages happen for a lot of reasons.. there's no reason to think your shampoo did it. It could have been a chromosomal problem or just a timing issue with all the different organs that need to start developing early on... one gene didn't fire and the baby couldn't grow anymore. It's not your fault, it's just a cruel thing that nature does from time to time.

And you also know that healthy pregnancies happen all the time, no matter how toxic our environment seems. Your next one probably will be. It is really frustrating and disappointing and sad to have a miscarriage... I hope you can grieve without beating yourself up.

I looked at the ingredient list on the shampoo I was using before my miscarriage and it is in there. In fact, I bought the shampoo and started using it about two weeks before the estimated size by ultrasound. They said he hadn't been growing well...
It is realy easy to try and find answers and reasons. But you can not possibly blame yourself if you have not used this long term. Like you said, you only started using it about 2 weeks before. Here is a quote from your article:

Quote:
"I don't believe any woman who's been using these products needs to have a sleepless night about having caused harm to her child," Zeisel said.

"At this point it is a caution," he added. "But it would probably be prudent to look at labels and try to limit exposure until we know more."
.......

The dose of DEA a person might get from shampooing is at least 10 times lower than the dose found to interfere with brain development in the study, Zeisel said.
Try and not blame yourself, just change your shampoo.
