Abby is fast approching a new size and I am feeling torn. Part of me thinks I should sell all of our size medium dipes and use the cash to pay for the size large dipes. I figure we will not be having our next baby for 3 or 4 years, and I will probably want the newest and greatest thing then.

Another part of me says to hold onto the dipes and use them again because I really do love them so much. They are all ApronString Baby Things pocket dipes, and FB pocket dipes.

Using all pocket dipes is kind of a pricy system, and the money would be nice to buy the next size, but I really love these dipes!

Oh what to do what to do!

I have heard that pocket dipes wear out even if they are not being used. So storing them for a couple years may end up with unusable diapers. So I would sell. They will be easy to replace when you need to.

I think if I were going to be holding on to them for that long then I would definitely sell to fund the next size up.
Just think of all the cool new things that will be out by the time your next baby is here!

My kids are 3 years apart and I loved buying all new pretty wahm stuff for dd #2! Unless it is really special it's probably best to sell. I could see keeping newborn stuff though, since it doesn't get much wear.

If you and DH are small-ish people, you might keep a couple mediums. I switched my first to cloth when she was about 9 mos old and 19 lbs. She was on the chubby side and the larges fit. I was thinking she might even need XL soon. As she got mobile though she stopped gaining so quickly and slimmed down a bunch (went from a 19" waist to a 16" waist) and was still only 20 lbs at 18 mos. I ended up selling the larges and buying mediums for her. Now she's probably an extreme case, but just a thought for ya before you sell all the beloved mediums.

If it was that long and was anything besides a natural fiber, I would probably sell. I would probably store prefolds or something like Motherease - they keep well and can be stored easily.

What about wool covers with elastic? Will the elastic survive a couple of years in gentle storage (lets assume I do all the things you do to keep wool safe).

DD has grown out of her Samuels Wooly dream and I love this cover. Am I going to have to start TTC now before my wool wraps become unusable!!!!

I would sell them too. You can always get more later. Plus you can use the money to upsize so you arent out that money again. Diapers have a good resale value. The only thing I am saving for the next baby is the stained hemp dipes (LOL, of course no one would buy those! LOL) and my wool covers. I will want all new prints of the dipes later anyways! LOL I am such a sucker for new dipes!

I would also sell 'em off to pay for the next size.

Who knows? Maybe with your next little one you will have a new "favorite" system.

I had pocket diapers that I used on Meredith and 3 years later had Kenny and used them on him. They did not wear out - they fit wonderfully for him as well (well, I did sell the girlie printed Fuzzi Bunz) and I was thrilled that I got my 'money's worth.' If you LOVE them, keep them. They will keep!

just make sure no matter what you do don't sell off that "special" one.

Best of luck
If it were me, and I knew it would be 3-4 years before kiddo #3, I would go ahead and sell most of them to get cash for bigger sized dipes, but I would keep any that were *extra* special to you. (ie. special order dipes, fav. prints)
