Someone, please tell me how this is fair???? First, I get pregnant when my exclusively bfing infant is only 5 months old....then, I'm tandem nursing and I get pregnant when youngest infant is only 4.5 months old! (ended in m/c) Then, I don't ovulate for a while....and now............................<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/af.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="aunt flo">!!!<br><br>
I'm TANDEM NURSING for God's Sake! 8.5 month old infant is still EXCLUSIVE and nursing something like every 45 minutes-1.5 hours round the clock, not counting the 4-8 times per day toddler nurses!?!! I was ticked when I got it back at 11-12 months w/DD and slightly perturbed at just over 2 with DS (I had hoped to go three full years), but maaaaan, you take the cake!

I know it sucks for you but I SO wish I was in your boat! I just want my period to come back. Maxi is only nursing about 3 times in every 24 hours and I still have no sign of it returning. I want another baby! How will I ever get preggo if I dont ovulate!?<br><br>

... due to my own health problems, i was told i don't ovulate, based on the fact that i have virtually no periods (maybe 2-3 a year "normally")... therefore my dr's used that to come to the conclusion i wouldn't be able to conceive without fertility drugs... but lo and behold, new baby!<br><br>
really, i think it's b.s. when people say that you're infertile while breastfeeding / lactating or when you're not menstruating. there's *always* a chance you can get pregnant.<br><br>
i think the only way to be sure you're not going to get pregnant, is if you already *are*.

BTDT and it is not fair at all!!!<br><br>
With ds#1 (exclusively breastfed, cosleeping, nursing on cue, blah blah blah) AF came back at 5 weeks.<br><br>
With ds#2 (tandem nursing, cosleeping, blah blah blah), AF came back at 5 months.<br><br>
We got ripped off!!!

Oh yeah, me too . . . AF returned at 5 mos pp and I cried and cried bc I thought it meant I was doing something wrong! All the LLL books say that a mother who is "truly nursing on demand" will go at least a year.<br><br>
Well, now I say , BITE ME!!!!!!! Some of us are just incredibly fertile!<br><br>
And speaking of biting . . . once AF returned, I had EXTREME pain while nursing (as if being bitten, even tho I wasn't) from ovulation to period EVERY SINGLE MONTH. Until I got pg again (at 28 mos) and now it just hurts EVERY SINGLE DAY.<br><br>
I just may choke the next well-intentioned lactivist who says that 1) BF is great birth control and 2) nursing doesn't hurt unless something is wrong! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/rolleyes.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="rolleyes"><br><br>
I'm sorry APMom. If I didn't know you had a dairy allergy in your family, I'd say this calls for some Ben and Jerry's. Hmm. i think the LLL books can be a bit misleading at times...
