So I went to see a fertility specialist and she recommended a full workup, including a Clomid challenge & a radioactive dye test for my "plumbing".

I forgot to mention to her that I was still BFing. Does anyone know if these tests are bad to do while BFing? It seems like clomid is contracindicated and I can't imagine radioactive dye being good for anyone.

If it matters, DD is almost 3 but still nurses 3-4 times a day.

The dye isn't good. There are a couple of different dyes they can use...the one I believe is most commonly used is recommended to NOT nurse for a minimum of 14 hours, but the preference is 24-48 hours. My girlfriend was told she was safe to nurse her SEVEN month old, until they INJECTED the dye, then the anesthesiologist made a "by the way" comment about not nursing for a couple of days. She called me FREAKING out, as her dd won't take a bottle. I sent her some bags of frozen milk to use by dropper, as she didn't have any saved...because BEFORE the test, they had told her she was safe!

My recommendation would be to get the name and isotope numbers of all the drugs they'll use, including the dye, then call your LLL leader and ask them to get you in touch with the professional liasion who has a copy of Thomas Hale's book. That'll tell you if you'll be safe to nurse, how long the half life is, and how long the book recommends you to wait.
