Does anyone have a list (or could give me a run-thru) of all of the waldorf festivals? Which do you celebrate? DD1 is getting older and growing more aware and I'd like to add more to our annual rhythm

thanks!

Not a list, but now is the time for the May Faire. There is a free one at the Chicago Waldorf School in Rogers Park from 10-4 on Saturday, May 15!

I have these books and I'm pretty sure they each have a complete list

http://www.amazon.com/All-Year-Round...3629221&sr=8-3

http://www.amazon.com/Childrens-Year...ref=pd_sim_b_4

http://www.amazon.com/Festivals-Fami...3629221&sr=8-7

These are the festivals we celebrate at my DD's school.

Michaelmas - Oct
Martinmas - Nov
Advent - Dec
Valentine's Market - Feb
Easter - Apr
May Day - May
Whitsun Celebration - May
Strawberry Fair - June

Each festival has a color associated with it and all the children and parents are asked to wear that color. We sing songs and eat food that goes with the festival. For May Day, we had fruit salad, fresh lemonade and mini cupcakes.

The books listed are good too and will give you more ideas/stories/crafts to add to the festivals. HTH!

looks like the only months without festivals are Jan, July, Aug, and Sept. i'm sure, though, that it's based on the school year, and that there would be celebrations for those months *if* the school year went all year.

OP - I hope you were able to make up to the May Fair. If you didn't, it's probably still worth a trip for you as the school store appears to be closing. Everything is 40% off. I picked up some books I'd been wanting. The school is in walking distance from the red line.

From "Waldorf Education - A Family Guide" under "Celebrations Through the Year":

Michaelmas
All Hallow's Eve
Hannakkah: The Festival of the Lights
A Token of the Victory of the Sun: The Christmas Festival
Epiphany: Day of the Holy Kings
Passover and Easter
May Day
Thank you!! I wasn't able to make it, we had our garage sale (which was a success!) that day. Thanks for the info on their store! I'm going to go check it out tomorrow. They told me that everything is 40% off but they're NOT closing, which is good to know How are their prices in general? Are they something along the lines of what I'd see at a place online like Nova, Palumba, Three Sisters Toys, etc?

I think their book prices are a little high. They're sometimes anywhere from $1.00 - $2.00 above the suggested retail price printed on the book. I suppose it's because they're not getting high turnover (hence the conversation about possibly closing at the end of the school year). So, I'd go in there with a list of the books I wanted and the Amazon prices you find so you can really compare apples to apples.

They have Sarah's silks, but I find those to be a bit thin.

They're out of beeswax crayons.

But, they do have bees wax for modeling and it's only $1.22 a package (a single color stick) after the discount. And they have paint. We keep ours in the fridge and we've had it well over a year and it's no where near running out.

Their 12 x 12 wool felt sheets are $3.00 before discount. So, this is an excellent buy.

They have some yarn, but, I'd probably recycle it from a thrifted sweater first if I were you.

They also had some natural remedy kits. Cold Care Kit and First Response Kit.

So, if I left out anything you might be looking for, if you want to pm me, I can let you know what I saw that they still have.

Glad your garage sale was a success!

Ah, thanks a ton for the response! I'm going to get a list together on Amazon. Too bad they're out of crayons, I was hoping to get some!

Thank you also for the list of the festivals. I hear that the CWS has an excellent calendar for sale with the festivals in it, so I'm probably going to pick that up too
