Have any of you heard about the fetal heart rate & sex of the baby theory? My last two babies had heart rates in the 140's & were both boys. On my second prenatal (the 11th), the heart rate was in the 160's. That got me wondering about if this baby could be a girl???

Well, this baby has had the hb of 155-160 (on three visits) and 144 at the u/s.<br><br>

DDC crashing, but my baby girl has had heartrates that go from 135 to 170<br><br>
All depending on how busy she is while they're monitoring it.

my LO started out at 168 at 8w, 150's at 12 & 16w, and was 144 at my 21w u/s when we found out she was a girl.

This baby's HR started at 167 at 8week u/s, and was 146 at 20week u/s. It's a girl.<br>
I don't remember what my son's was.

My 1st DD had heart rates in the 160-170s. Second DD had heart rates in the 140s. My DS was in the 150s. This baby has been anywhere from 150-170s.

People claim it's an old wifes tale, but it's been true for me so far as well. DD was always in the 160s, this one is a boy and he's never been over 145. So, IDK, maybe.

My 3 boys were in the 130-140s. JingleBelle's heart rate is in the 150-160 range.<br><br>

This little guy had a heart rate of 167, but is in the upper 150's now. Everyone was sure I was having a girl!

I think it's difficult to say. This baby (a boy) had a HB of 188 at the 9 week u/s, and then was in the 160's just before the 20 week u/s... here's the funny though: at the prenatal visit, just 2 hours before the u/s, the HB was 166, and then at the u/s it was 156. So yeah, maybe activity affects it. We were starting to think we had a girl on our hands, but the evidence was clearly otherwise <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">

My first reading was 170, then 150's at the ultrasound. He's all boy.

Mine are both girls. We have had lots of appointments and they are both consistently between 140 and 160.

It seems it is only more true in labour because girl's have a slightly faster heartbeats than boys... (even as adults)<br><br>
but in Utero they can be all over... my first two were in the 130's most of the time (boys)... but ds#3 was in the 160's when I listened in...<br><br>
This babe is in the 160-170's.... we'll know what s/he is at birth, but because of ds#3 I am not making any assumptions <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1">

Mine is a girl and she is always around 160 when checked.
