So I had my first ultrasound on wednesday. Everything looked great and my baby had a heart beat of 174 beats per minute. I thought that sounded a bit high but my OB said it's perfect. I was trying to remember back to my previous pregnancies. I think the heart rate slows down a bit into the second trimester. So what was your babies heart rate at your first ultrasound?

DDCC -

my first ultrasound with little miss Mae (9w0d) had a heartbeat of 179... as did the first couple doppler checks (each 170+)

over time its slowed to something like 140s-ish... 130s if shes sleepy, 150s if shes awake and active.

Have had two anatomy scans (well, an anatomy scan and a double check during my placenta location check after I had some bleeding) and absolutely no abnormalities in her heart seen.

Its a perfectly fine heart rate that early!

DD's heartrate at the first u/s was 170ish. I don't remember what it was at later appts, but I do remember DH counting 130 with his ear to my belly at 32 weeks

My understanding is that the fetal heart rate starts slower earlier in the pregnancy, increases for a while then will settle down some later. I had an u/s @ 6.5 weeks and little bean was 131 (?) and that was great. By, like, week 8 it goes up a bunch. Its crazy how much happens in such a short period of time, hunh? Amazing really.

Some people think that girls have a faster heartbeat than boys. My gut says this baby is a girl. Although it really doesn't matter much to me. I already have one of each, so this baby will be the tie breaker. I do have a lot of baby boy clothes saved though.

Well, it was true in my case! DS's heartrate at our early u/s was 140ish; DD's was 170ish. This baby will be the tie breaker for us, too. I've been feeling boy, but I keep dreaming girl

mine at 8 weeks was 140. The tech told me, "sounds like a boy" b/c it was in the low range. But I just really feel it is a girl. My midwife told me it sounded like a girl with my last (which was boy) so go figure...
