Fetal Movement - When - how often - how strong for you?

I am 18 weeks and feel soft flutters during the day, but mostely flutters in the evening. Right now acutally I feel soft flutters.

Most my heavy movement is at night when I sleep, which is annoying, I wish the baby moved more during the daytime. Every 3-4 nights or so, the baby goes really crazy and rolls around, and the rolling twisting movements are so strong it is uncomfortable and it wakes me up. Some days or night I don't feel much of anything, either the baby is calm or I am so fast asleep I don't notice.

When I have those crazy nights where the baby really makes itself know, it's nice, but I always tend to get nervous when a few days pass and I only feel a light flutter. I wanted to see if any of you went through the same thing?

Was very curious how often, how strong, and when you mommies feel your babies - and how far along you are. I am the tail end of Nov, so some of you mommies may be a good 3 weeks ahead of me.

Don't worry. I am 18 weeks too and only feel movement every few days. I get worried too but I figure if anything is wrong I would know. At first I felt flutters, now I feel waves when the baby does somersaults. I'm sure it will get more active in the weeks/months to come. Right now I mostly feel the baby at night because that is when I am relaxed enough to pay attention.
I'm 19w and I feel mostly flutters and some rolls and bumps. No kicks or sharp movements yet. I feel a lot when I am sitting, like the baby is more scrunched up in there. When I lay flat and spread out, the movement gets more light.

Nothing keeping me awake at night. Ha, I have been so tired, that baby could be running a conga line in there and I wouldnt know it. :LOL
I felt lots of little flutters a few weeks ago quite regularly (especially after meals) but the movement has changed, I'm guessing b/c the baby is a little bigger. Still no kicks, but more definite movement less often...if that makes any sense.

And although baby has settled down some since that really early movement (which was confirmed movement and not "just gas" with an u/s) I'm still not convinced there's only one in there.

just the last few days i've been feeling thumps and bumps quite a lot.. i feel more of the flips and turns when im lying down.. its a lot right near my bellybutton and to the right mostly.. im almost 20 weeks.. i wasn't feeling much at all before this, so its interesting that one day can make such a huge difference.
I think this must be a very unlikely Scorpio baby -- very calm, only the most infrequent and light movements. I'll be 20 weeks on Friday, and I've only felt what I *think* to be movements twice. It mostly feels, to me, like rolling or flipping. Also, it's really really low where my abdomen is the tightest, so it's hard to tell sometimes.
I'm 19 weeks, and the pattern is changing- I'm getting more kicks/ pushes in with the whole rolling thing, and I can feel the baby's position. Strangely enough, sometimes what I THOUGHT was a back gets pushed out- rh side, up by my navel- about the size of the palm of my hand- but then I realised I've never felt kicking in that area, and it doesn't respond to prodding. Is it possible to feel your placenta, if it's at the front?
At this point I feel movement all day long. I seem to have "popped" and now feel movements a lot near my belly button instead of just down low.

I also get a lot of movement at night when I'm trying to sleep, which is also annoying. I get some wallops too that make me gasp sometimes!
:

The good thing is that the "cervix bumps" aren't painful yet, just utterly irritating. Like being tickled from the inside and you can't make it stop!!
: I can't decide which is worse!!

I never go without feeling some movement in a day. If I even go a couple hours I will stop and sit down and do a "kick count" sort of. I don't necessarily need to feel 10 movements, but I'll wait until I'm sure I felt *something*.

It's a really exciting time and I am slowly building up a little stash of infant items in my back room. I can't wait until it's time to start putting things together!!

Mamafern! I can definately relate. I was just telling my husband yesterday that it seems like overnight I went from "is this gas or the baby?!?!" to "yikes! That was a hard kick!!" :LOL
I am 21 weeks and just starting to get some really good kicks. Usually it is at night that I feel it the most, but I have been so busy with the other kids that I dont have time to pay attention as much during the day
I was up really late last night and realized why I keep having these dreams about the baby moving. I've got a really active little one after 11 p.m. apparently. I had constant movement for almost an hour.

No wonder I keep dreaming that the baby is pressing himself against the side of my belly. In the dreams I can always feel the little outline of his body (though once there were two, one on each side) and the other night I even held his little hand in my dream.

This my third baby. I felt first flutters at 16 1/2 weeks just like my second. This little one kicks and bumps mostly on my right side. My dh got up this morning and i rolled over and the baby woke up and fluttered around. It was great feeling. I am lucky, this one sleeps when I sleep! Let's see when little one gets bigger. I love to rest and feel all the little flutters.
Had my check today, and while the Dr. was checking the fetal heartbeat, the baby kicked a lot, making the monitor get all scratchy. He said the baby had a very strong kick... and I didnt' even feel it. :LOL So I guess the ones I do feel, the little squirt is giving it their all.
Grrrrr....It's really starting to get me down although I shouldn't let it. I am 18 weeks tomorrow, my 2nd baby, and still nothing really.

I have really been trying to spend some quiet time, communing with the baby, just thinking about it and connecting with it, but still no real movement.

I feel like feet or something are pressing out into my right side- it is really painful sometimes. The right side of my belly seems a lot fuller, like it is balled up on that side or something, and the left side is softer. Ds was just like that- all on the right side, with both feet stuck right up under my ribs!

But my belly is getting bigger, it really feels like it is stretching a lot. I really need to see this ultrasound on Mon. to see for myself that there really is an active healthy baby in there!

I do feel daily movement, but it is light, soft kicks right down above my pubic line. It is firm enough for both DH and Sam to feel (Sam said: Boy, that was strange!) It tends to happen around 11AM and 9PM for some reason, but sometimes at other times too. Lots of movement on my flights this week...

itsybitsy, don't worry too much. It could be the position of your placenta that's making it harder to feel movement. I'm having my second, too, and there are days when I feel lots of flutters and pokes, and others when I feel virtually nothing.

I think my baby thinks he is Jennifer Beals, and he's dancing like no-one's danced before. He's a maniac. Oh yes, a maniac.

I'm just now 21 weeks, and he wakes me up at night even. My husband can definitely feel it. This one feels more active than my daughter, but this is totally subjective because it was many years ago that I had her; and because I heard (?) that you can feel the second baby earlier.
mine too! but elwynn was very active all the time as well so im not shocked or suprised.

Uh, does active baby in-utero = active baby out-of-utero, even while asleep? I am definitely going to have to buy an Arm's Reach Cosleeper if so. My first pretty much did/does not move from one position all night. It was almost like she wasn't there. Cosleeping was soooo easy. I don't know why I feel more anxious about it this time around...
