Hi,
My one year old has had a fever for the past three days. The highest it got was 102.6, so not so bad. however, I just wanted to ask if any of your kids have ever had a fever that lasted a few days then went away? My dd has no other symptoms is eating and drinking, and is a little grumpy but mostly in a good mood. She has no pain while peeing , so I dont think its a UTI. She hasnt really been sick before, so i guess i am just being a paranoid mom... I am assuming its some sort of virus, but I wanted to ask if anyone experienced a viral illness that only had fever as a sympton and if so how long did the fever last?

unless they get over 104 and baby/toddler seem listless, but that is just me. I don't treat a fever either, as I feel that the fever itself is the treatment to whatever DCs immune system is fighting at the time. My DS had a fever at about that age with no other symptoms, but after the fever broke, he got a rash. It turned out to be roseola, which is not biggie. Even my ped. at the time said not to rush in just because baby had a fever. If they are handling it well i.e. playing, drinking, communicating in some way I let it run its course and just try to make the baby feel comfortable.

Don't know where you are, but in Chicago there is a fever and croupy cough going around the playgroups - recently had dd in for a checkup and she got it. Three days with a mystery fever, croupy cough at the end, and then gone. I've heard lots of other moms complaining about it too. Older kids just seem to get the cough.

As long as it's below 103, can be managed and the child doesn't show other symptoms like rashes or explosive vomiting/diarrhea I wait a couple of days before contacting the ped. Day 4 is my personal threshhold for low-grade mystery fevers, but it depends on your kid and their health history.
