A little OT but had to share... I posted almost a month ago that I had discovered we really WILL get something back on taxes (was seriously afraid it would be little to nothing!). But I wasn't able to finish them at that time so have been waiting for a chance to do it. (Don't worry - the IRS really doesn't care how long one takes when the IRS *owes* money! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">) But it's pool season and we need to get our pool repaired, plus we're planning two trips this summer so I can see the NEED for the money!<br><br>
So after a relaxing bath tonight I told DH I was going to work, and I got it done!! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/jumpers.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="jumpers"> I got a ton of business deductions that upped our refund by $1000!! I'm so excited! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"> Yeah, that means I "lost" a lot of money last year on business, but it sure is nice to get a business loss and not just a hobby loss. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> Besides, one of the big deductions was the business-related trip we took last year - and DH and I are going again this year! How cool is it to be able to deduct a couple's getaway? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"><br><br>
So who knows... maybe I'll actually be able to GET some of that stuff off my baby wishlist! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

Yay for tax returns! And tax-deductible trips are the best. I filed 3-4 years at one time (I was refusing to file taxes while Bush was in office, but then I got married...). I got back almost $14,000. DH and I may get 2005 & 2006 done before the baby arrives. That would be a good goal.

That is great! We did pretty well this year too, which was a relief. We saved most of it to pay for the birth of this baby, and got our van fixed! There will be a bit left for me to buy some diapers, a stroller, and a few other things. I love it when I don't owe the man!!

Yay! It's so nice to get back some money! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> I hate the idea of "loaning" to the gov't, but what I hate MORE is owing more money at the end of the year!! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"><br><br>
I'm SO excited to be getting to get our pool up and running, too! Nothing better for a pregnant mama in the HOT summer! And it's hot enough to use it NOW! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">

Hooray! Congrats!!<br><br>
Our pool needs repairs too. Fortunately, in our case this can be accomplished through the use of one of those little stick-on repair kits they sell with the things to stop up the air leaks. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

I was thinking, "hm, I really don't know much about pools... stick on kit?" <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"><br><br>
If only my pool repairs would be so cheap to fix though! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink">
