Since I can't have a MW in my state assist me, ive been stressing about it for nearly 12 weeks. So, finally today I secured a commitment from an out of state MW. I am very excited b/c this now means I can have a Doula.

I was willing to go UC but I do feel better having someone there "just in case of an emergency" (i know, i know..but still...i am a VBAC w/ 2 prior c/s's...I have real fears, even though I've had a VBAC 2 years ago).

Now I can go to the MW who delivered my VBAC baby and get prenatal care through her.

Its a happy day.

Wonderful news! I know that's got to be a huge weight off your shoulders!

That is wonderful news! If I wasn't going to get Tricare to cover my HB I was thinking that I might have to go UC even though it kinda scares the crap outta me lol!

Yeah for you! I'm still in the process so I can relate to the stress, although the idea of UC doesn't actually freak me out.

What a weight off your shoulders! With my 2nd babe it took us nearly 12 weeks to find a mw (CPMs and DEMs are illegal in my state) and I remember the stress being intense. Once we found her it was such a huge relief and I felt like I could finally plan the birth I wanted.

Thanks everyone! UC doesnt really freak me out and I was pretty prepared for it and I think I will still plan on it (for myself). But my partner was a bit concerned....so, for his sanity I agreed to try.

This "traveling midwife" will come to our house 2 weeks ahead of our EDD....so there is a chance that she may not be here for the birth. Hopefully, not a great chance...but still possible. I'm just glad that my partner feels better and I can now work on other issues.

just curious as to why you would'nt be able to have a doula if you didn't have a midwife??
