DS is going to be 2 and a half next month and is still nursing occasionally. I've had a ton of bad experiences throughout my nursing journey but I've had two great nursing experiences in the last week and had to share.

Last weekend I was in line to pay for a birthday cake for my best friend and it was going slowly. DS was sitting in the cart and an older couple got in line behind us and I was actually kind of irked because they were crowding us so much. Well DS started talking up a storm to them and somehow we got into a conversation about how I strip DS down to let him have fun while he eats his pudding and to my surprise the husband tells me how his wife would like that, she's a beach girl and would live in a bathing suit if she could.....I guess less is more for her when it comes to clothes He tells me that she's from Europe and how they both think Americans are too uptight about the human body. I took that opportunity to bring up the fact that DS still nurses and how people give me a hard time when I NIP and I agree that we, as a country, are much too uptight about the human body. She proceeds to congratulate me for perservering (?) and nursing a toddler for so long even when it's not popular. She nursed all 5 of her kids!! That conversation just made my heart happy.

My second nice nursing story is that this week I was copied on one of those "what are you wearing? When did you last poop? what is your favorite book?" e-mails from my aunt. One of the women she sent it to replied and copied everyone on the original e-mail. I was bored so I read her responses and I was blown away by her response to "What is your favorite smell?"

Answer:A breastfed baby:

Life is good sometimes....I'm going to go snuggle my baby now, I feel warm and happy.

OOOHHHH and just an FYI-Rhode Island is in the process of trying to pass a BF Law!!!!! Keep your fingers crossed for us and pray that I don't look like an idiot when I go to the committee meeting to lobby for this bill

Oh, thank you for sharing! That is really cool! BTW, hi! We met at the Applebee's nurse-in last year, hope you're doing well.

I waited on a woman in my restaurant a couple months ago and somehow the subject of nursing came up and she said she nursed both of her children till they were 5 because she couldn't figure out how to go about weaning! We had a good chuckle and she congratulated me on nursing my babes :.

I had no idea that RI was passing some actual breastfeeding legislation. It's about damn time! So far they have only had the one that says that breastfeeding does not fall under disorderly conduct statutes and that is just not thorough enough.

Hi Honeydee!

We are all definitely doing well and I hope your family is as well. If you want to PM me and give me your e-mail address I'll send you a link to the website where the bill is displayed. I agree is is so wrong that the only law regarding BF was associated with a disorderly conduct law. It's pretty simple and is very similar to the other BF laws out there and even allows for the mother to take legal action if her rights are violated....it makes it legal to BF anytime & anywhere the mother is allowed to be. It makes me SO happy!

Keep in touch, I work full time but maybe we could do a weekend play date at Roger Williams Park. I'll look for your PM.

Julie, you spoke very well at the iparty nurse out, so don't worry about your time with your representative-you will 'represent' very well.

Glad to hear your positive stories!

And I love this, too. I can just imagine a toddler talking about being naked so that they can have fun eating pudding. I can't wait until my DS is old enough to do those things!
