Firetruck underwear for girls?

3852 Views 16 Replies 17 Participants Last post by  MittensKittens
This is a long shot...my daughter despises anything girly and is obsessed with firetrucks. I got her some firetruck underwear and she was ecstatic but she won't wear it because she finds the boy style extremely uncomfortable(the thick elastic waist). I highly doubt it, but has anyone ever seen firetruck underwear for girls?

Never seen such a thing, unfortunately. Could you get some fabric with firetrucks on it and heat-bond some cut-out trucks to some plain underwear for her?
Or you could look for a foam stamp at a craft store and stamp some firetrucks on.
Let me know if you find any because I have the same problem. My little Princess LOVES race cars. You guessed it, no race car undies in girl style.
You could take off the old waistband and buy some different elastic for the waistband and then sew it on instead.
Can you find a pr of firetruck boxer briefs? They are more comfy than the regular briefs boy underwear...
Underpants are pretty easy to make. http://supernaturale.com/articles.html?id=70 I just bought some really cute firetruck fabric at JoAnn's last week. It was t-shirt material.

I've embroidered designs on some plain panties for DD. That works pretty well. There are printable iron ons, too that you could make.
find a wahm who makes girls and boys underwear on hyenacart or etsy and has firetruck fabric, and get her to make the girl style in a "boy" print, or find a girl underwear making wahm and send firetruck fabric.
I searched for the same thing a couple of years ago for dd with no luck. I did find someone on Ebay who sold pink t-shirts with a fire truck on it, and that was a huge hit. (dd wanted a fire truck, but she also wanted pink -- that's a doozy of a combination.)

I agree that your best bet is the DIY route or to have someone make them. You buy plain white girls undies and stamp them with fabric paint. That'd be my choice.
You'd have to order them from the UK, but these Fireman Sam underwear are pretty much like girl's briefs.

These are also from the UK. Boys briefs in the UK don't seem to necessarily have a fly. They look just like girl's underwear to me.
OOOOhhhh! Thank God I found this thread! My 3 yr old son LOVES Dora.(I mean, LOOOOOVVVEEEESSSSS Dora.) But you ain't finding Dora boy underwear in any store! Trust you me!)

When my son was 2 he LOVED Dora, too, and while I bought him plenty of Dora things, I drew the line and girl undies! My Thomas the Train-loving dd, however, does wear the boy briefs! The Dora issue bugs me-- lots of boys like Dora-- why do they make products so gender-specific?

My boys like CareBears but ds1 uses the fly (thanks dh). I didn't know there was a new show until after we introduced the movie to them, but everything is girly. I wish everything wasn't all about gender.
I have some great instructions on how to sew your own girls undies, from one piece. It comes from the web but I have it as a PDF. PM me if you are interested.
