I went to the Dr's office for the first time today and it was... informative, to say the least. My OB's practice is so busy, he has a Nurse Practitioner do the first appointment (and oh, man, she is much better (gentler) at pap smears and sample collecting!!!!). I don't mind the change in procedure at all. I've been going to the same OB for all my pregnancies ( and in today's crazy world, that's saying something!).
My actual due date +/- 2 weeks is April 26th. I am approximately 12 weeks, 4 days, and am pregnant with only ONE baby! Thank you, God!
I was told this: I need to stop nursing my 2 year old. I told her that the uterus is not suceptible to oxytocin induced contractions untill approximately 6 months into gestation. She responded, "Well, you still need to stop." I told her I'll let Hunter decide when he's ready to stop.
I was also told that most likely, a c-section will be in order since I've had two previous. I responded "I'll see about that one."
So, there you go. I know my OB will probably say the same thing, but he also knows that I'm a stubborn woman and will do as I please.

I guess you don't have to tell your OB that you are still nursing Hunter. One of the reasons (of many) I really like my OB is that he had no problems with me nursing my son.
I like your response re: the c-section
Best of luck. It sounds like you and your Dr. have a good rapport which is so important, as you know.

Well, I am 38+ weeks and still nursing my 16 month old
I have had a couple of false starts or prodromal labor but none of it while she was nursing. If he brings it up just tell him you have stronger uterine contractions with orgasm than with nursing

That is the line I used with the woman at McDonalds that told me nursing DD was going to kill the baby

Stubborn or no, this kind of adversarial relationship would stress me out! But you know best what you like, and what you want from your caregivers.

Congratulations on your happy news! And since it's your first appointment, you have plenty of time to find caregivers who are more in line with your way of thinking, if you wish...

Panda, it's not adversarial at all. It's more like my OB has known me for over 8 years now and knows he *has* to advise me on what *should* be done, but he knows full well I'll do what I need to do... He's more like my knowledgeable big brother...
