I have seen changes since after my ds#2 was born that I didn't see after ds#1 was born. My AF now vary dramatically from month to month. Some months it is light and continual for 7 days, some months it's a big whoosh and is pretty much done in 3 days. And still other months it like it use to be, medium for 5 days.

I don't remember what the very first pp flow was like, but I have months that for about a day I am changing my tampon every 1-2 hours for 24 hours. I'd say that if you are bleeding that much for more than a day or two, and you consider it abnormal, then I would call someone professional (especially if you are feeling woozy, unnaturally out of sorts, etc.). It is always possible that there is something else going on that might require more medical attention.
My first PP AF was this way. It was sooooo heavy, I thought it was abnormal. But apparently it is a normal occurance. It lasted for a whole week

Mel
When my dd was 4 months old is when my period came back.

I bled like a stuck pig for 4 days. Just when I went from seriously irritated to concerned it lighted up on the 4th night. I think it's normal, but no fun at all.
My period came back nine months ago, and it's STILL huge. I mean, like, I have to empty out the Keeper every four hours or so for the first 24 hours after it really starts. That's probably more than you wanted to know, but in any event you're not alone!
