We are going for our first RE apt in about two weeks. We have had SAs, HSG, and done clomid - and tried for about 22 months. We have a DD that just turned 4 so I know we can make a baby... just not sure why it has not happened thus far.

Can you share your first RE experiences with me? I just don't know what to expect and am scared!!

We had pretty much had the same testing done before seeing our RE for the first time, but we hadn't done any Clomid yet. At our first exam we discussed a plan based on a lengthy history given by both DH and I. The RE did a very quick internal exam, had his nurse weigh me, and sent DH and I both for bloodwork (genetic testing as well as testing for STDs, etc). We then schedule a follow-up appointment for I think a week or two later when the RE would have the results of our bloodwork. At that appointment, we formalized our plan (which for us was Clomid and IUIs and then Letrozole and IUIs) and signed a bunch of paperwork.

I hope that helps! Oh, and our diagnosis was unexplained infertility, so that might make a difference too.

For us, they jumped right to saying "here's what you're going to have to do - IVF with ICSI" because dh's SA results were so extreme. So we had a ton of blood tests each (hormnone levels and STD's for me) and if I hadn't recently had an HSG they would have sent me for one. Then they set us up to start on IVF (we knew that would be the case, my OB/Gyn had told us that based on the SA results). Good luck to you.

For me was different coz my doctor has his own bioreproductive medicine centre, so every time that he see something strange call others from the Medical Staff (that is the good thing, because I never pay their services, coz my Doctor explain me de difference when he is the one who is asking question and when we are doing

) He is always in my ultrasounds and other topics. So he has all my history and he works with our infertility.

I use clomid and then tamoxifen, had a few IUI but finally got pregnant alone

As you I have already a son who is 9 years old, that why you and me we have secondary infertility.

Don't be afraid about the RE is the best for you, probably you will have blood tests and other exams, they are not terrible, also I had U/S sequence to see how my folies grow up and then they find my LUF Syndrome and also de endometriosis. DH went to a speciallist too and he is a Pure Breeding Guy
