Hi all,
In a couple of weeks I will be going to a meeting 400 miles away for 3 days and 2 nights. I have never been away from DD for more than 12 hours before and I work at home so she sees me every day, usually. She nurses 4 or so times during the day and 1-3 times at night.

I am pumping so she will have some milk (although she eats solids now too)...but more than the milk I am afraid she will freak out about not being able to nurse for almost 3 days. DH will be here the whole time (he is also a SAHD) and says they'll be fine....is this more my problem than DD's? SHould I be too worried? Any btdt info, or advice, or support, or ANYTHING, is greatly welcomed.

DD is only 10 mos so this isn't really an extended bfing issue, except that I WANT to extend bfing as long as she wants to and part of me worries she won't want to when I return.

?

No real advice here, but please check in and tell us how it went.

I was supposed to take my first trip away from DD in August (gone 86 hours) but the trip was cancelled due to the power outtage.

The trip is rescheduled for November. I'm so nervous about many of the same issues -- will Karen be ok? Will anyone get any sleep? Will she still want to nurse when I get back?

Nancy - We're going through something similar --Next month is my first time away (for 3 days, 2 nights) in DD's entire 26 mo lifetime. We still nurse, too. Have been trying to nightwean in preparation, but that's been kinda rocky (see other desperate post, LOL)....

Anyway, In "Becoming the Parent you want to Be" the authors have some tips on what to do -- like, tape your voice so that the baby can have some control and listen to you when he/she needs to b/c they might not be missing you when you call...but it's for toddlers, mainly. If interested, I can try and find some more tips to post?

I'm soooo nervous about it, but I've seen other moms leave their babes for a few days and it all seems to go well. Hopefully, your trip will too!

Thanks for the advice and info, everyone. I feel better about it now, but still don't want to go....I guess that's natural though. We will get through it!
